’90 Day Fiancé’: Why Fans Love Michael Jessen’s Ex-Wife

90 Day Fiancé fans are used to some serious drama going down. That can be drama between lovers, drama between lovers and their families, drama between exes, you name it. But this season, there’s one family that’s earning respect from viewers across America.

When Michael Jessen and Juliana Custodio first debuted on the show, fans were dubious. The age difference between the two coupled with Michael Jessen’s financial success raised eyebrows. However, several episodes later, fans are realizing that Michae Jessen, his kids, and his ex-wife Sarah Jessen are working hard to welcome Juliana Custodio into their family. And topping that, Sarah Jessen is making every effort to create an amicable co-parenting situation with her ex-husband.

Fans had their doubts at first

Fans had their fair share of doubts about Michael Jessen and Juliana Custodio when they first premiered on 90 Day Fiancé. Jessen is a wealthy 42-year-old, and Custodio is a 23-year-old model from Brazil. Fans assumed they had a less-than-savory relationship. Michael Jessen was quick to put those rumors to rest.

Jessen told People, “My fiancée’s name is Juliana. She’s from Goiania, Brazil. Juliana and I met on a big yacht party that a friend of mine was throwing in Croatia. There were a lot of celebrities there.”

Jessen informed E! News, “It’s never bothered me at all because living in it, I understand it. And if I could understand from an outsider’s perspective there would be many judgments that people would leap to and that doesn’t bother me one bit. People are welcome to think, feel what they want to. We’re together, we love each other, it’s very much real.”

He added, “We’ve made a very big decision to spend the rest of our lives together. The only person I care about when it comes to how they feel about our relationship is Juliana.”

Looking out for Juliana Custodio

When TLC revealed that Michael Jessen and Juliana Custodio sat down with Sarah Jessen to discuss Custodio’s role in their family, fans were worried. They assumed nothing good could come of it. And at first, the meeting was received as awkward and uncomfortable.

However, Sarah Jessen revealed that this was due to TLC’s editing choices. At one point, she told Custodio, “And what I want from you is to not parent, at all.” This sounded as if she were laying down the law. In reality, she was trying to be supportive.

Jessen pointed out, in a Facebook post, what she had truly told Custodio. She wrote, “[T]he ‘I don’t want you to parent’ comment was cut mid-sentence. What they edited out was the reason I have her which was ‘you’re adjusting to a new home, a new country and have a new relationship. I don’t want you to feel the added stress of feeling the responsibility of trying to parent Max and Cece.’”

Sarah Jessen actually frequently posts photos of Juliana Custodio and Michael, as well as her whole family, with heartwarming captions. It’s clear she supports their relationship. She even uploaded a photo of Michael Jessen and Custodio captioned “such cuties.”

It appears as if Sarah recently re-married herself as well, with photos posted to her Instagram of the event.

Fans have been happy to see Sarah Jessen supporting Michael Jessen and Juliana Custodio. They’ve also pointed out how wonderfully the Jessens work together to co-parent their children.

One Instagram user commented, “Your support probably means the absolute world to her… you’re an amazing woman, and that is not only evident in how awesome your kids are, but also in the way you help build other women up.”

Another user chimed in with, “Y’all are the best! I hope you are done right by in the editing processes.” Sadly, as Sarah Jessen already discovered, TLC might not be the most trustworthy when it comes to editing.

“You are an amazing mum! And a wonderfully supportive ex-partner to Michael. It’s very evident in how your kids handle themselves the loving environment they are brought up in. Great on you guys,” added another user.
