’90 Day Fiancé’: Why Michael Ilesanmi Is ‘Worried’ About Getting His Mother’s Blessing Again to Marry Angela Deem
On 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, Angela Deem has been dealing with quite a bit of drama recently. She finally learned her health results, and she thankfully doesn’t have cancer. However, her doctor did mention that carrying a baby at her age leaves her susceptible to complications. It’s a really touchy subject, considering Michael Ilesanmi and his family are eager for him to have a child. Michael reveals to Angela that he’s “worried” about getting his mother’s blessing again after she learns this new information.
Angela tells Michael she could have cancer
When Angela first reveals the news that she could have cancer to Michael, the reaction is less than ideal. He says he’ll need to think about things, considering he really wants to have a baby, and Angela might not be able to have one if she has cancer. It’s really not the reaction Angela was hoping for.
“I’m just worried, not only about the cancer, but about how you feel because you’re so adamant, you and your mom, about a baby. What worries me is if I can’t have a baby, you will go find someone that can,” Angela explains to Michael.
Michael’s response is less than ideal for Angela. He says he’ll need to think about things. “This is a big question for me,” Michael tells her. “This is what I want, and we’ve been talking about it, about having a baby, for years. I have to think about it.”
Angela Deem gets good news and bad news from her doctor
After experiencing bleeding, Angela takes a trip to her gynecologist, who is concerned that Angela could have cancerous cells in her uterine lining. She undergoes a procedure to rule out cancer, and thankfully, she gets good news about it. Angela doesn’t have cancer, but the doctor does reveal that there could be complications to her carrying a child at 54. Although Angela doesn’t have any more eggs of her own, she can still carry a baby, but it won’t come without some risks involved. It’s a big decision the couple is going to have to make together, but it’s made even more difficult by Michael’s family’s expectations.
Why Michael is ‘worried’ about getting his mother’s blessing again to marry Angela
The whole situation is hard for both Angela and Michael. Although Michael was able to get his mother’s blessing to marry Angela before, this time could certainly be different, considering all the risks involved in Angela carrying a child to term for Michael. She tells him she will do what she can to “tote a baby” for him, and it’s a complicated situation that they really need to fully consider.
Michael finally tells Angela that either way, they will stay together, and it’s relieving for Angela to hear. “I know it’s scary, and I know we have our ups and downs, but you know deep down, I love you. Even if you don’t have a child, I’m going to stick by you, you know?” Michael promises Angela.
When Michael gets a look on his face, it’s clearly about his mother. “I really want to be with you even though we can’t have a baby,” Michael starts to explain. “But I’m worried about my mom. She might not even want to support the relationship. And I don’t want to make that be a problem.”
Michael explains to Angela that they need his mother’s blessing in order to get married, and it’s very important for the marriage. “She’s just not going to be happy…” he tells her. He’s worried how his mother will react if Angela can’t have a child for Michael. She might not support their marriage, which would be detrimental to the couple.
If Angela can’t have a child, it would cause a major rift in Michael’s family. Although Michael says he wants to be with Angela no matter the outcome, it’s still worrisome for the couple to contemplate not having the support of Michael’s mother, which is so important for him and his culture. It’s expected that Michael will have at least one child, so there is a lot riding on this.
In the last episode, Angela revealed that they are holding off on telling Michael’s mom. “We also decided to hold off on telling Michael’s mom about whether I can have a baby or not right now, because frankly, I’ve got too much on my plate,” Angela tells the cameras.
It looks like Angela and Michael are putting off the inevitable of telling Michael’s mother the situation. We’ll see how it all plays out.
