A ‘Challenge’ Competitor Said Jenna Compono Seemed Severely Checked Out: ‘She Was Not in a Great Space’

MTV’s The Challenge is tough, and the stakes are higher than ever in Total Madness. This season, Jenna Compono is back hoping for a big win, and she’s known for being a physical beast in eliminations. But she’s having major issues with her relationship with Zach Nichols.

Nichols is back home while Compono competes — and he accused Compono of cheating on him. This severely affected Compono’s mental state, of course. And Challenge veteran Aneesa Ferreira said she appeared completely checked out as soon as the drama with Nichols really started to go down. Here’s what Ferreira said.

Nichols and Compono met on The Challenge, and they’ve been on and off for years. Now, the two are engaged — but before Nichols got down on one knee, he accused Compono of being unfaithful.

In episode 6 of Total Madness, Nichols appeared to dodge Compono’s calls. When she finally got ahold of him, he admitted that he was searching through her direct messages and found old texts between her and other men. This prompted him to accuse her of cheating, though Compono noted she was only talking to other men when she and Nichols were on a break.

Everything escalated in episode 7. Nichols threatened to throw Compono out of their home if she didn’t leave the show and address his cheating accusations. This left Compono more confused than ever regarding what she should do, and she addressed the “ultimatum” with her friends in the house.

Compono was under a ton of pressure from both the game and Nichols. And she considered leaving the game completely, as it seemed like the only way to deal with the drama back home. “It’s either he has to wait until I get home, which means I could technically not have a boyfriend, or I leave now and save my relationship,” she told the cameras.

Compono then relayed her second conversation with Nichols to her friends in the house. “Pretty much he’s surprised that I’m still even here and if I don’t come home then all my stuff will be out,” she explained. “We talked about getting engaged this year … so now he’s not doing it.”

Kailah Casillas then explained that that’s “blackmail,” and Compono agreed that none of it was fair to her. Ultimately, Compono agreed to stay — and she even competed for her red skull against Tori Deal. She won the skull, sent Deal packing, and is now prepared to go for the big money with or without Nichols by her side.

Aneesa Ferreira said Compono appeared totally checked out on the show

Ferreira’s been playing the game for years, and she spoke on the Challenge Mania podcast about Deal’s decision to go against Compono in an elimination. According to Ferreira, Compono seemed just as checked out in the game as the cameras made it look.

“Jenna was like, every day like, ‘I want to go home.’ I mean, she was not in a great space, so we all thought, you know, at some point, she was gonna go,” Ferreira said. “What better way to go, is like, an elimination, you can just try your hardest, or not try that hard, and go. But it didn’t go that way.”

It seems some of the commentary about quitters from host T.J. Lavin also got to Compono. “And Jenna was talking about it, she was like, ‘I hate when T.J. calls me out.’ And it just lit a fire under her a**,” Ferreira continued.

We’re glad Compono has her spark back and wants to fight for her position in the game. We’re excited to see how it all progresses!
