Adam Levine and Ellen DeGeneres Just Finalized a Real Estate Deal
Adam Levine and Ellen DeGeneres just struck a deal – a real estate deal that is. Levine unloaded one of his palatial Los Angeles estates, and DeGeneres was right there to grab it! The lovable talk show queen purchased the 10,000 square foot home for herself and her wife, Portia de Rossi. While DeGeneres and de Rossi are the stars that now own the house, they aren’t the first Hollywood heavy hitters to fill out a change of address card for the estate. It has a pretty impressive pedigree!
Who else owned the home Ellen just bought?
Before Adam Levine took over the property, Max Mutchnick called the house home. Mutchnick is best known for creating the hit TV show, Will & Grace. Levine and his wife, Behati Prinsloo, owned the house for about a year before Ellen purchased the pad.
Mutchnick spent several years in the house before agreeing to sell it to Levine in an off-market deal. Prior to Mutchnick’s tenure at the address, the home was owned by Pete Sampras and Bridgette Wilson.
Ellen and Portia have been on a real estate hot streak
Ellen has spent the last 15 years or so buying homes and selling them. While some people would call her a “flipper,” the 61-year-old talk show queen rejects the term entirely, according to Business Insider. Instead, Degeneres alleges she just enjoys the process of buying and selling homes.
With a penchant for decorating, the Hollywood heavy hitter and her wife may live in several houses per year. Degeneres has said she enjoys different aesthetics and is happy to move when the mood strikes her. The fact that she makes money on the deals is just a pleasant bonus.
The famed star has a rather impressive real estate portfolio to prove what she says, and she doesn’t always sell the properties. Ellen rents some of the properties out. In fact, in 2015 she became Nick Jonas’ landlord. The $41 million property she just picked up is still a bit of a mystery. Ellen and Portia have not noted if they plan on living in the expansive abode, or if they’ll be selling it off shortly.
Levine unloaded the home just as he quit The Voice
The news of the real estate deal between Levine and DeGeneres comes on the heels of another big announcement from The Voice coach. Levine announced he’d be departing the hit competition show and would not be returning for the next season. Levine didn’t offer a reason for his departure.
Several days prior to the announcement, TVline published a story that indicated fans were looking for Levine to take a little break. Nearly 60% of respondents to a poll included in the story said they had had their fill of Levine as a coach. What he plans to do next is unknown, but more real estate may be in his future.
