‘The Order’ Season 2 premiered on June 18

After over a year of waiting, fans are finally getting to dive back into the spellbinding world of Jack Morton (Jake Manley) and the Order of the Hermetic Blue Rose. Season 2 of The Order hit Netflix on June 18 with 10 thrilling new episodes.

This season, Jake and his Knights of St. Christopher werewolf friends find themselves working with the Order, rather than against it. With their memories slowly returned, they aren’t fully convinced they can trust Alyssa (Sarah Grey) and the new Grand Magus, Vera Stone (Katharine Isabelle).

But amid their squabbling, the Order and Knights discover that they aren’t the only magical groups creating havoc on the Belgrave University campus. A new, more dangerous organization called Praxis is emerging, and they are using magic in a more deadly way.

The heartbreaking Season 2 cliffhanger

The first season of The Order ended with Jack’s memories being wiped. And it left fans wondering if he would ever remember his relationship with Alyssa or his werewolf friends.

But because everything can be cured by magic, Jack’s amnesia is flipped in the second season, and he is able to pick back up with the Knights and his love life.

But now, with the Season 2 finale, viewers are reeling from another major cliffhanger. At the end of Episode 10, Midnight’s hide takes over Gabrielle (Louriza Tronco) and attacks Alyssa in the temple.

When Jack sees that Midnight has torn out Alyssa’s neck, he begs her to return Vera’s powers so she can save her. But Alyssa dies in Jack’s arms, and he is later seen carrying her body into the woods.

‘The Order’ showrunner addresses Alyssa’s death and plans for Season 3

So, did Alyssa really die in the season finale?  That’s the question every fan of The Order is asking. Well, in an interview with Hollywood Life, showrunner Dennis Heaton confirmed that the magician is dead, at least for now.

“Is Alyssa really dead? Yes,” said Heaton. “She is dead. She had her throat ripped out by a werewolf.”

As of now, Netflix has yet to announce a Season 3 renewal for The Order, which is likely because they are waiting to see how well this season does in terms of viewership before making a decision. But when asked about whether or not Alyssa’s character would return for a potential third season, Heaton said he “definitely would hope so,” indicating he already has plans for the story moving forward.

“It was one of those situations when I wrote the script, and we were figuring out what the finale was going to be because, obviously, we wanted to do something to match you the season 1 cliffhanger in terms of making sure the world hates us,” Heaton described the cliffhanger. “It was like, well, let’s just straight up kill somebody. As soon as I wrote that scene I was like, well, I better phone Sarah [Grey].”

Season 1 and Season 2 of The Order are currently streaming on Netflix.
