Until joining the cast of The Office, Krasinski had only acted in minor roles in commercials, TV shows, and movies. Shortly after joining The Office, however, he landed the role of Corporal Harrigan in Jarheads, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Krasinski followed up Jarheads with supporting roles in films like Dreamgirls in 2006,  License to Wed in 2007, and Leatherheads in 2008. It was the set of Leatherheads where Krasinski met George Clooney, who was directing the film, and the two formed a close friendship. In 2010, Krasinski and actress Emily Blunt were married in a private ceremony at Clooney’s Italian estate.

Krasinski finally achieved top billing alongside Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin in 2009 with It’s Complicated. His acting work was steady throughout the duration of The Office, however, Krasinski’s roles increased in prominence when the series ended in 2013. By the time Krasinski starred in A Quiet Place earlier this year, he had become a household name.

You can currently catch Krasinski as Jack Ryan in Tom Clancy’s series of the same name. The first season is streaming now on Amazon Prime. Season 2 is currently filming and is expected to air in 2019.

John Krasinski made his directorial debut in 2009

Krasinski made his directorial debut with the 2009 film Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. A year later, he stepped behind the camera to direct his first episode, “Sabre,” of The Office. Krasinski also directed the episodes “Lotto” in 2011 and “The Boat” in 2012, and he shot the footage of Scranton that is shown during the show’s opening credits.

In 2016, Krasinski directed The Hollars, a movie about a man who returns home after learning that his mother has a brain tumor and needs surgery. He co-starred in the film with Pitch Perfect‘s Anna Kendrick.

Krasinski most recently directed and starred in the award-winning thriller A Quiet Place, about a family that lives in silence to avoid being attacked by blind aliens who are extremely sensitive to sound. Considering Krasinski interned as a script writer for Late Night with Conan O’Brien and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in playwriting from the prestigious Brown University, it should come as no surprise to learn that he also wrote the screenplay for A Quiet Place.

John Krasinski produced ‘Lip Sync Battle’

Lip Sync Battle was the first successful series produced by Krasinski’s production company, Sunday Night Productions, which he co-founded with Allyson Seeger. The concept for Lip Sync Battle was formed while Krasinski was brainstorming ideas for an upcoming appearance on The Tonight Show in 2015.

Host Jimmy Fallon developed the idea into a recurring segment for The Tonight Show. The segment was popular enough to fuel talks of a TV series, which NBC ultimately passed on. Krasinski took the series to Spike, where it became the highest-rated non-scripted series in the network’s history and was nominated for a 2016 Emmy.

According to IMDB, Krasinski also holds producer credits on 15 episodes of The OfficeThe HollarsManchester by the SeaThe Promised Land, and A Quiet Place. If you’re keeping count at home, that means Krasinski wrote, starred in, directed, and produced the critically and commercially successful A Quiet Place.
