From ‘Aladdin’ to ‘Austin & Ally’ — Here’s What’s Coming to Disney+ During January 2020

What better way to ring in the new year than with a movie marathon? Thanks to Disney+, there are a few new shows and films available for binge-watching during January 2020. What new television shows, shorts, and movies are coming to this streaming platform this month? Here are some of our favorite shows and movies coming to Disney+, including Aladdin, The Lion King, and The Proud Family.

Disney+ will house a few Disney Channel series’ including ‘Austin & Ally’ and ‘The Proud Family’

There’s no way we could make it without them. On Jan. 1, 2020, Austin, Ally, Dez, and Trish join the Disney+ family. Seasons 1 through 4 will be available on this streaming platform. The animated Disney Channel series, The Proud Family (seasons 1-2) also joins Disney+ at the start of the new year. According to Bustle, Penny, Oscar, Trudy, Bebe, CeCe, and Suga Mama return for new episodes sometime in 2020, for the Disney+ rebook of this animated series.

Other television shows to premiere on Disney+ during January 2020 include The Super Hero Squad Show (Season 1–2), Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja (Season 1–2), and Billy Dilley’s Super-Duper Subterranean Summer (Season 1). Spin-off shows, Muppet Babies Show and Tell, Vaprinia Ghouls Girls Rock, and others join the Disney+ library during January.

Movies released in 2019, including ‘Aladdin’ and ‘The Lion King’ will be on Disney+ during January

After months of waiting, movies released in 2019 will be added to the Disney+ film library. That includes Aladdin, starring Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott. Disney’s live-action Aladdin premieres on Jan. 8, 2020.

Disney’s photo-real adaptation of The Lion King pounces onto Disney+ on Jan. 28, 2020. This movie, released in 2019, features the voices of Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, and Billy Eichner amongst other cast members. Other movies to be available on Disney’s streaming service beginning in January 2020 include Holes, Red Tails, and National Geographic specials like Drain the Bermuda Triangle.

Which Disney+ originals premiere during January 2020?

On Friday, Jan. 17, Disney+ is adding a new cast to its streaming platform. Diary of a Future President was created by Ilana Peña and executive produced by comedian and actress, Gina Rodriquez. This comedy series is narrated by a 12-year-old Cuban American girl, portrayed by Tess Romero and new episodes are expected to drop on the streaming platform on a weekly basis.

Some original series’ will wrap up during January 2020. That includes the mockumentary musical, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The mini-series, Forky Asks a Question will also premiere its finale on Jan. 10, 2020 and new episodes of The World According to Jeff Goldblum and One Day at Disney continue to premiere throughout this month.
