What is Alex Morgan’s Net Worth?

Alex Morgan is the captain of the United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT). Morgan and her teammates are currently playing for a shot at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. She’s been an asset to the team for years, and she’s arguably the most well-known player. But what is her net worth?

Alex Morgan was born and raised in California

Morgan grew up in California alongside her two sisters. Growing up, she participated in various sports, but clearly soccer was where she developed the most skill. While she was an astounding athlete growing up, she attended and played soccer for a public high school rather than a private school. However, her skill definitely wasn’t overlooked. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America named Morgan All-American while she was there, and it set the stage for the rest of her career. She played on the U.S. Under 20 Women’s National Team when she was 17. Morgan graduated and went on to attend UC Berkeley.

Morgan makes $450,000 per year as a soccer player

Morgan didn’t necessarily set out to be a professional soccer player, but as she got older, she started to hone in on her soccer skills more and more. While at UC Berkeley, Morgan played for the California Golden Bears from 2007 to 2010. By 2011, she had earned herself a spot as the no. 1 overall pick in the 2011 Women’s Professional Soccer draft. She then went on to play for teams in Seattle and Portland (where she played alongside some of her USWNT teammates) before moving on to the Orlando Pride in 2016; Morgan still plays for the team. She earns an estimated annual salary of $450,000.

Morgan was America’s youngest player in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Morgan made her FIFA Women’s World Cup debut back in 2011; she was the youngest player on the team at just 20 years old. She scored her first World Cup goal during that tournament and was reportedly in the running for World Player of the Year; she didn’t win. However, she helped her team secure a win over both Japan and France and led the U.S. team to finish second place in the tournament overall. She is currently playing in her third World Cup. Morgan also played for the USWNT in the both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.

Morgan led the USWNT to a 13-0 victory against Thailand in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Her estimated net worth is $3 million

Morgan’s soccer skill has earned her a comfortable net worth estimated at $3 million. But despite being worth millions, Morgan and her teammates are underpaid compared to their male counterparts, the United States Men’s National Team. The USWNT consistently outperforms the men, not only in FIFA World Cup performances but also in overall wins and viewership. The women have spoken out about the unequal pay and have been working to change it for several years. Celebrities have also stood alongside the women in support for their request to be paid equally (though they should probably be paid even more) to the men’s team. Morgan has been working on the issue for several years, and though she has a high net worth, the pay isn’t fair.
