Alex Trebek and Jean Currivan Trebek have 2 kids
Trebek and his wife of 30 years, Jean Currivan Trebek, are parents to two children. After marrying in 1990, the two welcomed a son, Matthew, in 1990. Then came their daughter, Emily.
Today, Matthew is a restauranteur in New York City. As for Emily, after graduating from Loyola Marymount University in 2015, she embarked on a career in architecture. She flips houses and does interior design work.
The game show host also has an adopted daughter
Jean isn’t Trebek’s first wife. Before the two met, the Canadian-born TV personality had been married to Elaine Callei. Married from 1974 to 1981, Trebek adopted Callei’s 6-year-old daughter, Nicky, whom she welcomed during a previous marriage.
Even though Callei and Trebek’s marriage ended, the Jeopardy! host maintains a close relationship with Nicky. In fact, she works with Trebek on the award-winning game show as a production coordinator.
Alex Trebek’s kids on what they get from their dad
On Jean’s lifestyle website, Insidewink, she chatted with Nicky, Matthew, and Emily about their dad over dinner. They touched on what they can always find on the 79-year-old’s desk, their favorite childhood memories, and, of course, the traits they’ve inherited from Trebek.
“We both tend to be discerning when it comes to sharing our feelings and I think we’re both very capable in taking care of most household repairs,” Matthew said.
“I have a similar passion for organization in my household,” Nicky said with a laugh. “Dad is extremely into cleanliness and organization.”
In a similar response, Emily also touched on Trebek’s tidiness and attention to detail.
My Dad and I are both pretty Type-A individuals … I think I got a lot of my organizational, financial, and perfectionistic traits from him,” she said.
Another trait Emily says she’s inherited? Trebek’s interest in home improvement. “He also has always been into construction so I think that rubbed off on me too,” she said.
