New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady isn’t one to make a whole lot of noise off the football field, but the same can’t be said for his wife, Gisele Bündchen. The supermodel has never had a problem saying exactly how she feels, even if her husband would rather her not.
There have been instances in which Bündchen defended her man, but threw others under the bus while doing so. There have also been times where she said some things the athlete had to walk back and dismiss. Here are the times Bündchen probably shouldn’t have said anything on Brady’s behalf.
When she said he played with a concussion
In May 2017, Bündchen did an interview with CBS This Morning and said Brady played every Sunday, despite having suffered concussions.
Her statement was problematic for several reasons. For one, the NFL has been trying to implement rules and regulations to prevent head injuries and if any player is thought to have one they are to be pulled from the game and undergo specific protocol. Therefore, her saying he had concussions that no one knew or did anything about set off alarm bells all over the league.
Because of what she said, the league released a statement, saying it reviewed its records and Brady never exhibited any concussion-like symptoms. His own agent, Don Yee, later echoed that statement and insisted that his client was not diagnosed with a head injury.

After Super Bowl XLVI when she ripped his teammates
Who can forget that time when Bündchen slammed the Patriots receivers and tight ends for not completing passes during the team’s Super Bowl XLVI loss to the New York Giants in 2012?
As the model left the suite where she was watching the game and waiting for the elevator she angrily said, “You [need] to catch the ball when you’re supposed to catch the ball. My husband cannot f**king throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.”
TMZ later reported that some players in the Pats’ locker room felt that Bündchen violated the code of brotherhood. When Brady spoke to reporters following his wife’s outburst, he refused to publicly call out his receivers and put some of the blame on himself for the throw.

Bundchen’s comments came back to haunt her
Unfortunately for Bündchen, her comments about her husband not being able to “throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time” rang true a few years later; much to Brady’s embarrassment.
During Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles on Feb.4, 2018, the Patriots designed a trick play in which Brady would have an opportunity to catch a pass from his teammate, Danny Amendola. The play failed though when the quarterback couldn’t catch the ball as it went off his hands.
At that moment, many were reminded of Bündchen’s words six years earlier, and social media had a field day pointing out how she ended up being right.

Her infamous remarks to their kids after Super Bowl LII
Following the Pats loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LII, Bündchen tried to console her children, who were seen crying after their father lost, but her words raised some eyebrows.
Bündchen was heard telling the kids things like, “They [the Eagles] haven’t won in a million years,” and “Daddy won five times. You have to let someone else win sometimes.”
Next: A talk show host disagreed with what the model said.
Her words prompted reaction from Whoopi Goldberg
I’m sorry. Didn’t the Eagles bust their behinds and earn that? It’s not like Tom Brady said, “Shhh. Let’s let them win.” Na-ah. They beat you. And that happens. So little Tom Brady girl sometimes people lose because that’s what helps to make you better.
Next: Bündchen claimed these words were “twisted.”
Bündchen eventually clarified her comments
The reaction from Goldberg and others led Bündchen to explain that her remarks were taken the wrong way. She took to Twitter to say that she was fed up with people trying to “create drama” where there isn’t any.
“Just to be clear. No one ‘let’ anyone win. People win because of their own merit. Tired of people twisting my words to create drama that doesn’t exist,” she wrote.
The model did congratulate the Eagles on Instagram after the game, as well as her husband and his team for a great season.
Next: That time she asked someone else to talk Brady into retirement
When she asked Brady’s friend to talk him into retiring
There’s been talk about Bündchen wanting her hubby to retire from the NFL, and in the 2017 offseason, she tried to recruit one of Brady’s friends, who is already retired, to coax the quarterback into hanging it up.
Former NFL placekicker Jay Feely was a college teammate of Brady’s and last played in the league in 2014. He told Sports Illustrated that while on vacation with Brady’s family, Bündchen kept “trying to get me to convince [Tom] to stop playing. She was dead serious.”
Feely said that he did have a conversation with Brady about the topic, but it went a little different that his wife had hoped. Instead of telling him to retire, Feely said he told the quarterback to “play as long as you can.” Brady then winked at his buddy in acknowledgement that he planned to do just that.
