It’s only fitting that this episode is called “True Killers” and features the backstory of characters like Richard Ramirez. This episode starts off with a flashback of Montana teaching her iconic aerobics classes for men. Someone new crashes the class, and it’s the Night Stalker, also known as Richard Ramirez. He says he’s “training” and the two are obviously flirting.

Once the class ends, Montana heads to the locker room, where she finds a dead corpse hanging on the wall, guts completely spilling out. It’s a gift from the Night Stalker, which Montana thinks is, like, totally hot. The two make out and talk about killing people. She asks if he would kill for her and explains her brother was the best man at Brooke’s wedding. You know, the one her fiancé shot? The Night Stalker reassures Montana that Brooke will suffer a painful death as the title song begins to play.

Montana has beef with Brooke in ‘American Horror Story: 1984’

The flashback ends and we’re back at Camp Redwood, where Montana asks why the Night Stalker hasn’t killed Brooke yet. (He’s busy, girl!) In one of the cabins, Chet is bleeding pretty badly. He’s about to die when he gets a shot of adrenaline from Trevor. In all the chaos, Xavier blurts out that he did gay porn and realizes the guy left his car and, probably, his keys. Trevor and Xavier leave to get everyone else, leaving Chet with a pair of scissors for protection.

Meanwhile, Margaret Booth stumbles upon the Mr. Jingles pranksters who died. Trevor runs up to her and says they need to leave but Miss Booth says, again, she’s got a gun. So, she’s not going anywhere.

Xavier heads for the mess hall, where the chef is making sandwiches. He tells her they’ve got to leave, but she doesn’t believe him until they hear jingling keys. Xavier ducks under a table as Mr. Jingles enters the hall. The chef offers him a sandwich, which he reluctantly sits down for. Just as Mr. Jingles is getting comfortable, Xavier makes a noise under the table. The killer chases after Xavier and throws him into the oven.

Brooke finds herself between Mr. Jingles and the Night Stalker

Xavier is burning up in the oven and the chef finally opens the door to save him, but she’s bleeding badly. She asks Xavier to kill her, which he does reluctantly, then taking the knife for protection. He catches a glimpse of his face in the oven and is shocked by the burns, realizing how that will affect his acting career.

Meanwhile, Brooke wakes up in a cabin with the door locked. She breaks down the door and starts running through the woods when she’s almost killed by a booby trap, set by the “Nurse Rita.” The nurse tells Brooke that she’s there for science. She needs to study killers in the wild.

Montana stumbles upon Brooke caught in the trap and tells her this will all be over soon, running away to find something sharp. Margaret finally grabs her beloved gun and runs into a carving Mr. Jingles made for her. She has a flashback and, it turns out, they had a crush on each other. Is Margaret Booth working with Mr. Jingles, too?

The Night Stalker is doing some kind of ritual when Montana points him in the right direction to kill Brooke. He stumbles upon the girl in Nurse Rita’s trap. Just as he’s about to do his worst, Mr. Jingles shows up.

Who will be the ‘True Killer’ of ‘AHS: 1984?’

It’s a battle of the serial killers. The Night Stalker and Mr. Jingles fight. Montana sneaks up on Rita and they start fighting, too. Poor Brooke. She’s just hanging there, stuck in the trap in the tree. At the end of this, honestly, amazing sequence, Montana clubs Rita. Brooke frees herself from the tree and Mr. Jingles basically kills the Night Stalker by spearing him through the mouth. But, surprise, he’s not dead.

Margaret is praying in her room when she finally comes face to face with Mr. Jingles. We find out it was actually Margaret who committed those murders in the 1970s! She framed Mr. Jingles, forcing him to go to a psychic ward, where he was tortured until he believed the lie. She even cut off her own ear! Just as Mr. Jingles was about to attack Margaret, she shoots him, saying he was at the wrong place at the right time.

Trevor and Chet meet up with Montana. They decide Montana should take Chet to the car while Trevor looks for Margaret. Trevor then gets stabbed by Margaret. The cherry on top? She cuts off his ear. When she turns around, Mr. Jingles is gone.

At the same time, Xavier is wandering around the woods and runs into Mr. Jingles. He tries to stab the man but misses. Xavier begs for his life, and Mr. Jingles spares him before mysteriously disappearing. Brooke runs into Xavier, and they head for the car, which, unfortunately, is now ablaze. One of the last scenes is the Night Stalker literally rising from the ground. Nurse Rita wakes up to see him levitate and come back to life. He smiles.
