American Horror Story released their trailer for ‘AHS: 1984’

Although FX already released a teaser for American Horror Story: 1984 earlier this year, the network released the official teaser trailer on July 29, 2019. In it, fans saw a group of kids heading to Camp Redwood for a summer vacation they’ll never forget. Additionally, FX already released the first two episode titles; the first episode is entitled “Camp Redwood” and the second episode is entitled “Mr. Jingles.”

“The teaser isn’t bad it’s just not good,” said one Twitter user. “However, it doesn’t effect the season except maybe that yellow filter again. Anyways, I’m glad we may be actually getting a full slasher season I just hope the teasers improve like the first one we got in April was really decent.”

This new season of AHS is based on 1980s horror movies

American Horror Story: 1984, is loosely based on the cult-classic slasher movies of the 1980s. Particularly, this season resembles movies like Sleepaway Camp, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Friday the 13th — fans see a knife-wielding killer in this season, dressed in a mask, in this season’s teaser trailer.

Some speculate that the title of this series is a nod to George Orwell’s dystopian novel, 1984. Others believe this series might be linked to Scream Queens, a series starring AHS alumni Billie Lourd.

“Part of me wonders if AHS: 1984 is the same plot line they were gonna use for the original season 2 of Scream Queens when it was originally an anthology series until FOX ruined everything,” said one Twitter user.

Cody Fern, Billie Lourd, and Emma Roberts return to ‘American Horror Story: 1984’

A few familiar faces return to the ninth season of American Horror Story. That includes Cody Fern of AHS: Apocalypse and Billie Lourd of AHS: Cult and AHS: Apocalypse. Emma Roberts will play one of the lead roles. Additionally, Olympic athlete Gus Kenworthy will portray her character’s love interest.

“After working with Ryan, I definitely felt confident because I feel like he gives everyone great opportunities and he trusts you,” Emma Roberts said in an interview with Collider. I remember before Madison, I would go up for parts and they’d be like, ‘She’s too sweet,’ or ‘She’s too nice.’ Now, after Madison and Chanel, no one says that.”

Longtime American Horror Story cast member, Evan Peters, will reportedly not return to this season. Although some speculated that fanfavorite Sarah Paulson might also sit AHS: 1984 out, it has now been confirmed that the actress will make a cameo in this season. This will be the first time Paulson has not had a lead role in the horror series.

American Horror Story: 1984 premieres on FX, Sept. 18, 2019.
