The plot of ‘American Horror Story’ Season 10

Every season of American Horror Story explores a sub-genre in horror — from the haunted house in season one to the slasher-inspired ninth season. As far as season 10, the plot has yet to be announced. However, Murphy has hinted at the theme on social media.

Back in March of 2020, he posted an Instagram photo showing two hands crawling up a cliff with a view of the ocean in the background. He tagged the location as the coastal Massachusetts town Provincetown and captioned the image, “Things are beginning to wash up on shore…”

Later, he shared another promotional image for the upcoming season that shows a white face with blood-red lips and fangs. The words “AHS 10 FX” are tattooed on the creature’s tongue.

The posts spawned hundreds of theories about the potential theme of season 10. Among the ideas was Jaws, vampires, mermaids, and sea monsters. But nothing has been confirmed so far. Murphy has only said that the teeth are indeed a clue.

The cast of ‘American Horror Story’ Season 10

Murphy revealed all of the returning actors in a post previously shared on his Instagram. Among them is Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Angelica Ross, Billie Lourd, Lily Rabe, Finn Wittrock, and Leslie Grossman.

There are also some newcomers, including Macaulay Culkin. His role is still unknown at the time of this writing. But Murphy told E! News, “[Culkin’s character] has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things.”

“I’m excited for him to be in my world because I think…I’m gonna want to do a lot of things with him if he wants to work, because I think he’s fascinating and interesting, and I think he has a soul,” he added. “There’s both a lightness and a darkness with Macaulay Culkin that I’m attracted to.”

When does ‘American Horror Story’ Season 10 air?

Season 10 was initially expected to air in 2020. But it was delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which forced many other productions to shut down earlier in the year to slow the potential spread of the virus.

Murphy later said production was expected to kick off in October 2020, and there’s been no sign of a schedule change. So with that, we could possibly have new episodes as early as late 2021. Can’t wait!
