‘American Idol’: How the Judges Reacted to ’90 Day Fiancé’ Star, Evelyn Cormier’s Audition
Evelyn Cormier is making the big jump from 90 Day Fiancé to American Idol. She previously announced on social media that she auditioned for the singing show. Now that it has aired, we know what the judges thought about her performance. Are Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan fans of the young singer? Here is everything you need to know.
Evelyn Cormier was previously on Season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé
The singer is no stranger to reality TV. She previously was on Season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé, which followed her relationship with David Vázquez Zermeño before their wedding.
At the time, the 18-year-old was from Claremont, NH and it seemed l
Cormier was also open about her pursuit of a music career while on the show. Now she’s on American Idol and her audition just aired.
Cormier performed “Wicked Games” by Chris Isaak for her audition
Cormier went with the rock song, “Wicked Games” to show off her voice. Before that, the judges actually commented on her looks.
“Fresh face!” said Bryan before thinking of an actress Cormier looked like. Perry chimed in with “Anne Hathaway” but Bryan was actually thinking of Rachel McAdams.
They also noticed she was wearing a wedding ring and congratulated her on being married for a year. So what did they think of her voice?
Katy Perry said Cormier’s voice is “Literally one of my favorite voices I’ve ever heard in my life”
Perry was the first one to react to the performance by saying “Literally one of my favorite voices I’ve ever heard in my life.” Bryan also said, “I think when you have a really amazing band behind you it’s going to be something crazy!”
Richie had kind words as well. “You have a sound. You have a sound that’s yours. I love the air. I don’t know what you’re doing or whatever it is…” The other judges agreed. Richie was the first to say yes to Cormier moving through the competition.
Perry also gave her the advice to pick the right songs
Sometimes how far you make it on reality competition shows is less about talent. It could be about getting votes from viewers, or it could be about making the right choices.
After Perry praised Cormier’s voice she did leave her with an important piece of advice. “Evelyn, pick the right songs because you’re my favorite voice,” the pop singer said.
In the end, Perry and Bryan also said yes to her moving forward. So Cormier will be going to Hollywood, but she still has a lot of work ahead of her.
