Tyler Butler-Figueroa brought America’s Got Talent fans to tears with his performance. He got the golden buzzer so he will be going to the live shows.

Violinist Tyler Butler-Figueroa got the golden buzzer after performing a Kelly Clarkson song
The 11-year-old violinist bravely went on America’s Got Talent‘s stage and told his story. He was once diagnosed with cancer and learning violin helped him cope with being bullied for it by other kids.
“When I play the violin, it helps me forget about all the bad stuff,” Butler-Figueroa said on the show. “I just didn’t want to be the kid with cancer. So now I’m the kid who plays the violin.”
Simon Cowell responded after his performance of “Stronger” by giving him his golden buzzer. “I can tell you one thing–most people are bullied because they’re better than the people who bully them,” the judge said. “And I think you have such an amazing talent, such a personality, and I would like to say something on your behalf to the bullies.”
The contestant revealed that he has been in remission. Now he has fans all over the country rooting for him including Clarkson.
Clarkson tweeted that she also learned the violin when she was a kid
A lot of fans tagged Clarkson in tweets of the young boy’s performance in hopes she would see it. They were successful because she tweeted her response and revealed they had an amazing connection.
“I can’t breathe. I’m crying so hard. Tyler, I hope we get the chance to perform together one day! I started playing violin when I was a kid too! It’s the first instrument that introduced me to being a part of music and not just listening. #loveyou,” she wrote.
America’s Got Talent has some famous performers on the show before. Garth Brooks helped last season’s contestant, Michael Ketterer by writing a song for him. So it’s possible that Clarkson could eventually perform with the young violinist.
Clarkson is a coach on The Voice and will be back next season. Both The Voice and America’s Got Talent are on NBC so it might be possible.
He isn’t the only contestant who has support from a celebrity
This season is already competitive. Kodi Lee is a blind and autistic man who blew the judges away by performing Donny Hathaway’s “A Song for You.” He sang and played the piano and by the end of his performance, he got a standing ovation.
Gabrielle Union hit her golden buzzer for him and the moment went viral. Lee got his own support from a celebrity. Oprah Winfrey tweeted, “Loved this moment so much! Stood up and cheered in my living room. #KodiLee#AmericasGotTalent.”
It looks like even celebrities are being moved by this new season of America’s Got Talent. Tyler Butler-Figueroa will return to the show later in the season. We will have to wait and see if he’ll ever get to perform with Clarkson after her sweet tweet.
