‘America’s Next Top Model’ Contestants Who Made It Big
The reality competition show has had many contestants try to prove their modeling skills. That includes posing, acting in commercials, and of course, having a killer runway walk. However, the true secret to the show’s long-running success is Tyra Banks who brought a lot of personality and new words like “smizing” to pop culture. Now the show is back so it’ll be interesting to see what new challenges and contestants we’ll see.
Rita Ora is the host for the new show and that’s not all that’s changed. “We basically wanted to turn it into the 2016 version,” Ora told CNN, “knowing that the stars of today are social media celebrities. If you take the Gigis and the Bellas and the Kendalls — they really created something special on the internet and that’s just where our world is going right now.”
Over the show’s past seasons there have been many winners and losers. Some have been able to make great careers for themselves in acting, modeling, and more. So now it’s time to look back on those models who were able to make something out of their time on the show. Here are the 10 contestants who made it big.
1. Yaya DaCosta
On Cycle 3 of the show, Yaya rocked her natural hair and was really proud of her Brazilian and African heritage. Sometimes this singled her out and she was criticized for it. One judge called her “over-bearing” and she was accused of trying to prove her “Africaness.” However, she preserved and did very well on the show even if she didn’t win. After that she appeared in advertisements for Garnier Fructis, Oil of Olay, and more.
Now she’s an actress getting steady work! She was in The Kids Are All Right, Tron: Legacy, and The Nice Guys. She’s also a regular playing April Sexton on Chicago Med.
