Andy Cohen Explains Why Some Celebrities Are Blacklisted from ‘Watch What Happens Live’

Watch What Happens Live (WWHL) shows celebrities gossiping about other people, but they also open up about themselves. However, some famous people are blacklisted according to Andy Cohen. Find out why and more about celebrities who aren’t fans of the show.

Tituss Burgess and Laverne Cox were recently guests on WWHL. Things got heated when Cohen asked Burgess about working with Eddie Murphy.

“I was just wondering if you got close at all because he was very problematic for the gays at one point,” said Cohen. “Oh, I see,” said Burgess. “He wasn’t problematic for Tituss. We had a wonderful time. We talked about Dreamgirls. He should’ve won the Oscar, I believe.”

The actor then said something to someone off-camera. When Cohen asked him what he was saying he responded with, “Keep going, girl. Do your show.”

Burgess later wrote about the experience on Instagram. “She can be a messy queen!” he wrote. “Don’t care he knows either! He should remember his talk show isn’t an episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta! It’s a place where artists come to talk about art and have a little fun NOT a place to rehash old rumors or bring a star negative press. Sunday was a display of ratchet behavior by a well-connected man having blatant disregard for one of his guests.”

He added, “If only time were taken to know who I am and not assuming that I am the character I play on tv he would know how to conduct a proper interview with at all!”

Cohen later talked about the exchange on Andy Cohen Live. “He wasn’t having me,” he said. “What can I tell you? From the jump. I was trying, but no idea.”

Other celebrities have shut him down

Burgess is hardly the first person who had a bad time on the show. Other celebrities weren’t happy with Cohen’s questioning. One of them is Amber Rose.

When Amber Rose was on, she wore sunglasses,” he told Vulture. “She was not up for my tomfoolery. I remember asking her questions and she was like, ‘I don’t want to talk about that. I don’t want to talk about that.’ It was not a good fit. I just don’t think it was the show for her.”

She wasn’t the only one. “I’ve spoken before about Jillian Michaels leaving very pissed off and I never figured out why. I don’t think Gillian Anderson had a good time on the show.”

Cohen said celebrities are blacklisted for not wanting to talk

The talk show host tends to get gossip out of his guests. However, not everyone is an open book and make that known before going on the show.

There are a few people. And you would be surprised, there are a few people who we have deemed ‘not worth the trouble,'” he revealed to AOL Lifestyle. “Like, you can’t talk about this and you can’t ask about that,” he said.

There is another reason why some former guests haven’t appeared on the show again. “Or there are a couple people who have been on the show that we deem too annoying to come back,” he said.

It sounds like there are two main reasons celebrities are blacklisted from the show. They wouldn’t be willing to open up anyways or they are too annoying for the host.
