Andy Cohen Reveals the Reason Melania Trump Could Never Be a Real Housewife, and No One Is Surprised

As the creative genius behind the best franchise in all the land (yes, I said it), Andy Cohen knows how to cast some seriously entertaining housewives. That said, it’s no surprise he was eager to weigh in on how he thought Melania Trump would fair in the reality ring. So, does he think the billionaire-wife-turned-first-lady would’ve ever had a shot on the show? Not a chance.

Intrigued? Good. Read on to discover Cohen’s thoughts on the Trump family in relation to his most successful series, along with the one specific reason why Melania Trump could never be a Real Housewife (page 5).

Does Donald Trump take notes from the Real Housewives playbook? Cohen seems to think so. In fact, he even coined the phrase “Housewives Playbook” to compare the the president’s actions to those seen on the show.

Never one to shy away from speaking the truth, Cohen frequently calls out the president for behaving just like a Real Housewife, which isn’t a good thing. From rescinding invitations to holding grudges, POTUS clearly gives Bravo’s leading ladies a run for their money.

Cohen may not be a fan of the commander-in-chief, but that doesn’t mean he’d turn him away from his late-night show. After all, Cohen knows the key to good ratings when he sees it. And Donald Trump on Watch What Happens Live? Well, that’d be pure gold.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cohen would gladly welcome the Donald on his show. “He’s the president!” Cohen said. “I would ask him everything. I mean, it would be amazing.” We’ll cross our fingers for that one, but won’t be holding our breath.

Any true Real Housewives fan knows Cohen has the skills to pay the bills. And by “pay the bills” we mean serve as the indispensable host of volatile reunion shows. Heck, he’s so good, he could even mediate a conversation between longtime enemies Ivana Trump and Melania Trump. And he’d love it — and we would, too.

If you recall, Ivana Trump’s claim that she would always be the president’s first lady sparked the feud between Donald Trump’s first and third wives. And when news of their latest feud broke, Cohen was quick to tweet both women. “Only one person can mediate this! Please call me,” he said.

Melania Trump’s name is off the casting table for obvious reasons, but what about the president’s first wife, Ivana? Would Cohen ever consider her a worthy contender for a Real Housewives edition? Well, the answer to that question would be a big fat no.

“It’s a fun idea, though. She would be a formidable opponent to any of them,” Cohen said during a February 2018 edition of “Ask Andy.” Then, he went on to say, “She’s messy. She couldn’t be messier. She might be too messy for the show.”

Cohen doesn’t think Melania Trump has enough personality to make it as a Real Housewife

Cohen never actually approached Melania Trump about joining The Real Housewives of New York, so it’s a moot point. But still, her life pre-FLOTUS could have made for a great storyline.

So, why didn’t Cohen ever consider her for the show back when she was just another rich housewife? As he told The Hollywood Reporter, he “didn’t know if she [had] a strong enough personality for the show.”

Considering whom Melania Trump is married to, it’s no surprise her personality might often be stifled. After all, she’s living in the shadow of one pompous individual. And according to French first lady Brigitte Macron, Melania Trump has a ton of restrictions. But apparently, she works hard to hide her strong personality.

“We have the same sense of humor. We laugh a lot together,” Macron said. Furthermore, she said Melania Trump is “kind, charming, intelligent, and very open.” Hm … perhaps Cohen was wrong about her. Maybe she’ll join the New York cast post-presidency. A girl can dream, right?

Cohen has since said Melania would be great

So, has Cohen changed his tune since his first impression of Melania Trump? It appears so. During the same February 2018 “Ask Andy” edition — the one where he called Ivana Trump “messy” — Cohen said he thought Melania Trump would be “amazing” for the show.

So, there you have it, folks. Here’s hoping a Real Housewives cast will someday include Melania Trump. And if it does, her tagline is ready and waiting: “I may be married to a former president, but when it comes to making important decisions, I’m the one who runs the show.”
