Andy Cohen Reveals Which ‘Real Housewives’ Star He Relates to the Most, Sort of …
Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen spends a lot of his time with housewives – very famous housewives. As executive producer of Bravo TV’s Real Housewives franchise, Cohen knows the drama each housewife brings to the (sometimes overturned) table. The talk show host recently revealed who he most relates to out of all the now infamous ladies.
Started as an intern
According to AOL, Cohen began his career in television as an intern at CBS. He worked his way up to serve as producer of several of the network’s news programs, including 48 Hours and CBS This Morning. He later became vice president of original programming at Bravo TV in 2004. His show Watch What Happens Live recently celebrated being on the air for 10 years, which is still a labor of love for the host.
“I love that it’s live and spontaneous. I love it that every night the show is different, I love getting my guests to say things they’ve never said on other shows and asking them questions I know viewers want answered,” Cohen told USA Today. “I think my show is totally authentic – it’s unique, and I think we speak directly to our audience. We don’t BS them. There’s something relatable about it.”
A combination of ‘housewives’
The television personality knows each of the Housewives better than most, and recently commented on who he feels in sync with from the franchise. “I want to say that there’s a little bit of all of them in me, but that’s a lie,” Cohen said.
Instead of giving one name, Cohen gave several, saying he could identify with certain qualities of each reality star. “I hope that I have the energy and enthusiasm of Nene [Leakes], I hope that I have some of the business sense of Bethenny [Frankel] or Lisa Vanderpump, some of the humor of Bethenny and some of the hudspa of Margaret [Josephs],” he revealed.
Speaking of Bethenny …
Cohen, who is also an author and radio show host, clearly admires Real Housewives of New York Bethenny Frankel. The Skinnygirl founder and sometimes-guest investor on ABC’s Shark Tank recently announced her exit from the show, much to the disappointment of fans and executive producer Cohen.
Frankel joined RHONY in Season 1. She exited the show in Season 3 then rejoined in Season 7 and has remained on the show since. Cohen spoke of Frankel’s announcemnt on his SiriusXM radio show, Andy Cohen Live, earlier this month. “My overwhelming feeling about Bethenny leaving RHONY, and I told her this six weeks ago were she going to leave, that I am so grateful that she came back. She already left is what we need to remember,” Cohen said, according to People. “We were so lucky to have these last seasons with her on it. And it was just so fun to have her back and she brought so much to the show that I just am living in the gratitude of her second return.”
Since Frankel had left the show before and decided to return, Cohen is keeping his fingers crossed that she may come back once again. “I will hopefully live in the gratitude of her third return, because we are much like the mob — you can’t get out. I do hope and think that she will come back sometime,” Cohen said. “Who knows? She’s so still a part of everything that’s still going on that you almost could see her dropping in and it’s like, ‘Oh my god. Okay! Bethenny’s at a party! Bethenny’s on this trip!’ You never know. I look forward to her in any capacity on the show and I’m just grateful that she was back.”
Frankel was asked by Entertainment Tonight about Cohen’s comments when she walked the red carpet at the 2019 Emmy Awards. “You know, I love Andy,” Frankel said in response. “I love Bravo. They took out an ad yesterday to congratulate me on everything BStrong is doing, so it’s great to have good relationships and I will always be a member of the Bravo family.”
The Real Housewives franchise and Watch What Happens Live can both be seen on Bravo TV.
