Angelina Jolie Says She’s ‘Just Trying to Get Through My Days’ Since Brad Pitt Separation
Angelina Jolie says she’s been going through a very difficult time since her separation from Brad Pitt.
The actress recently spoke to the Sydney Morning Herald, with this interview being one of the only times she has opened up about her relationship status since the news that she and Brad Pitt would be getting a divorce. Jolie said that it was challenging for her to even speak to the media this week.
“It’s not easy doing press right now,” she said. “…I can’t pretend this isn’t a tough time in my life, but I’m trying to get through it by just moving forward and knowing it’s part of being human. Sometimes I can forget that and we can all get pretty hard on each other…Maybe sometimes it appears I am pulling it all together, but really in fact I am just trying to get through my days.”
Jolie also opened up about her health in this interview, saying that “my body has sometimes taken a hit with all of the things that I had to do” and adding that the additional stress in her life hasn’t helped. She’s referring to the fact that in July, she said that she had developed hypertension and Bell’s Palsy. She also previously had a preventive double mastectomy in 2013 and had her ovaries removed in 2015.
In a separate interview with the Sunday Telegraph, Jolie said that she is “not as strong inside” as she has been in the past, adding that she doesn’t like being single again.
“I don’t enjoy being single,” Jolie said. “It’s not something I wanted. There’s nothing nice about it. It’s just hard.”
While speaking with the Sydney Morning Herald, Jolie said that she’s been taking some time off and that eventually she’ll do more work. Then, in a separate interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said that she will likely be returning to acting soon, saying that Maleficent 2 will probably be her next film.
“…[W]hen I feel it’s time for me to go back to work, I’ll be able to go back to work,” she said. “I’ve been needed at home. I hope [to work again] in the months to come.”
