Ann Curry Could ‘Destroy’ Matt Lauer If She Chooses to Speak Out, so What Is Stopping Her?

It is safe to say that Ann Curry is not Matt Lauer’s biggest fan. Curry departed Today back in 2012 over an alleged beef with Lauer. Curry also voiced her support of Brooke Nevils, who accused Lauer of rape, and reportedly has enough dirt on her former co-host to “destroy” him. So why doesn’t Curry speak out and tell us the truth about Lauer?

Curry knows more than she lets on

Inside sources claim that many of Matt Lauer’s victims told Curry about their experiences when she worked on Today. If she ever chose to speak out, the insider is confident that Curry would ruin Lauer’s life forever.

“Ann has maintained a dignified silence, but a lot of people confided in her years ago and still do to this day,” the source shared. “She knows more than most about the man Matt really is, and when she finally speaks out, it will destroy him.”

While Curry has kept a lot of the details to herself, she was one of the first to come forward with sexual misconduct allegations. According to Us Magazine, Curry told NBC execs about Lauer’s questionable behavior in 2012,  years before he was fired from the show.

Network execs have denied receiving any information about Lauer’s inappropriate actions in 2012 and claim that they did not cover anything up. They did, however, take swift action when Nevils came forward in 2017, firing Matt Lauer within hours of the complaint.

Curry is not the only former NBC employee with dirt on Lauer. Megyn Kelly also claims to have spoken to some of his victims and says that she knows more than most people do about his behavior.

Kelly even praised Curry for complaining about Lauer in 2012 and threw her full support behind Meredith Vieira, who persuaded Nevils to tell her story in 2017.

Matt Lauer gets blasted in new book

Kelly’s comments come amid new rape allegations against Lauer in Ronan Farrow’s new book, Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators.

In his book, Farrow revealed that Lauer anally raped Nevils when they were covering the 2014 Sochi Olympics in Russia.

Nevils says that she was too drunk to give her consent and that she rejected Lauer’s advances on multiple occasions. She and Lauer continued the affair when they returned to New York City.

Kelly praised Nevil for coming forward with her story and also highlighted Curry’s efforts to take down Lauer in 2012.

In addition to the 2012 complaint, Curry also reported Lauer in 2010 after he exposed himself to Melissa Lonner during a work engagement. Curry claims to have told two NBC execs about the incident, though nothing was done in response.

As far as Kelly is concerned, it should be noted that her Today segment was canceled in 2018 in light of her questionable remarks about blackface.

Kelly joined the NBC team in 2017, signing a massive $23 million contract after leaving Fox.

Lauer fires back

In response to the new allegations, Matt Lauer has released a statement in defense of his actions.

The former Today host claims that his affair with Nevils was completely consensual and that he did not anally rape her in Sochi.

Lauer, who was fired from Today after Nevils filed a complaint with NBC brass, added that they did engage in an affair that lasted several months. He closed his statement by assuring fans that he has never forced anyone to have sex with him.

In the wake of his 2017 sexual misconduct scandal, Lauer’s 20-year marriage to Annette Roque fell apart. The two, who share three children, filed for divorce and settled the split back in September.

As part of the agreement, Lauer was forced to dish out $20 million to his ex-wife, though they are both committed to raising their children as amicably as possible.

Along with Lauer’s statement, NBC has issued some strong words of their own. In light of Farrow’s bombshell book, the network once again condemned Lauer’s actions, calling them “horrific.”

NBC also apologized to its employees who fell victim to Lauer’s unwanted advances and pointed out that they fired him as soon as they read Nevils’ complaint.

Roque has also released a statement on the matter, assuring fans that she is completely focused on her children now that Matt Lauer is out of the picture.
