Anna Faris Says She and Chris Pratt Are Still ‘Incredible Friends’
Although Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are separating, Faris says that they remain close.
The Mom star spoke with PEOPLE this week ahead of the release of her new book, and she talked a bit about her separation from Chris Pratt, which was announced over the summer.
“We’ll always have each other and be incredible friends,” Faris said. “There is still so much laughter in our lives together, and he is so proud of me, still. We watched each other grow, and he still cracks me up all the time. And I think I crack him up — unless he’s a really good actor and great at faking laughter.”
A lot of fans who had followed Faris and Pratt and considered them to be the perfect couple were heartbroken to hear that they are separating, but Faris said that they still do love one another.
“It’s understandable that people seemed so invested in our happiness together,” Faris said. “All I can say about that is, it’s all true, that we truly adore each other, and we love each other, I think it still comes through.”
Later in the interview, Faris again said that “Chris and I are really great friends, and I think that we always will be.”
Anna Faris and Chris Pratt announced in August that they would separate after eight years of marriage. Two months later, neither of them has publicly discussed what led to the end of their marriage, although TMZ reported that it mainly came down to the fact that Pratt has become so busy since his movie career took off that he’s rarely ever home. Faris reportedly wanted more kids and a family that spends a lot of time together, whereas Pratt wanted to focus on his career and did not want more kids.
“When he married Anna back in 2009, she was much bigger than him,” TMZ reported. “He’s now at the top of the Hollywood food chain, and with that comes opportunities that take him all over the world, shooting movies that take him away from home for months at a time.”
Chris Pratt wrote the forward for Anna Faris’ new book Unqualified, which will be released on Oct. 24. According to PEOPLE, Pratt says in the forward that he thinks he and Faris will be “just fine” and that they will continue to co-parent together. Faris and Pratt have a five-year-old son, Jack.
Unqualified was written before Anna Faris’ separation from Chris Pratt, and it seems that this is not something that’s discussed in the book. But fans who read it will still gain some insights about the marriage, such as one section in which Faris says that Pratt was never her best friend; an excerpt of this was released last month.
“I was once told that I didn’t need a tight group of girlfriends because Chris should be my best friend,” she writes. “But I never bought that. The idea of your mate being your best friend — it’s overhyped. I really believe that your partner serves one purpose and each friend serves another.”
