Anthony Scaramucci Makes This Declaration at Bill Clinton’s A-List Martha’s Vineyard Birthday Party
The month of August gets extra toasty on the sleepy island of Martha’s Vineyard. Tourists and celebrities alike flock to the tony island to indulge in the sea air, annual agricultural fair and party with celebrities.
In addition to spotting Amy Schumer and Seth Meyers at the annual fair, tourists may have bumped into the former first family, Bill and Hillary Clinton. The Clintons have a longstanding history with the island, dating back to when Clinton was president. The Clintons famously visited the Vineyard nearly every summer during his presidency and have popped in occasionally ever since.
This summer Clinton celebrated his 73rd birthday. The party included some of the usual suspects, but some long-standing guests were no-shows. One surprising guest was Anthony Scaramucci, who made this fun declaration to a Vanity Fair reporter.
‘Democrats have more fun’
This was Scaramucci’s first foray to Clinton’s birthday party. In recent weeks Scaramucci has gone hard in denouncing President Donald Trump. Scaramucci appeared on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher where he slammed Trump. Since his appearance, Scaramucci has warred on Twitter with Trump. He even predicted Trump will drop out of the 2020 race.
Scaramucci, otherwise known as “The Mooch,” took time out from his feud with Trump to actually have a little fun. He showed up at Clinton’s birthday party where he made it clear he enjoys hanging with Democrats.
“Democrats have more fun!” Scaramucci told a Vanity Fair reporter during the height of the party fun. Martha’s Vineyard has historically been the summer home to a number of high-profile Democrats. President John F. Kennedy brought the island into celebrity focus during his presidency. Clinton continued the tradition of vacationing on the Vineyard. Most recently President Obama and family have returned to the island almost every summer during and after his presidency.
Who was there (and who was not)
Clinton shares his birthday party with longtime friend and adviser Vernon Jordan. The men are typically seen together on the links on the island. Plus they have been celebrating their birthday together for some time. Jordan turned 84 this year.
Of course Clinton’s wife, Hillary was in attendance. So was former senator John Kerry, who now vacations on the Vineyard after many years on Nantucket. Democratic senator Mark Warner was there to celebrate. So was Terry McAuliffe, the former Governor of Virginia.
Notably missing was Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz, who has always maintained a strong presence on the island. Like Scaramucci, Dershowitz seems to have switched teams with Dershowitz seemingly favoring team Trump. Last summer Dershowitz bemoaned being “shunned” from the cocktail parties and social events on the island because of statements he’s made that could help Trump. Dershowitz insists he’s a “liberal Democrat” but his arguments against impeaching the president have made him cocktail party poison.
Barack and Michelle Obama and senior advisor Valerie Jarrett were also not at the Clinton birthday party this year. The couple was spotted on their yearly retreat to the island. The former president was spotted playing golf with professional athletes Steph Curry, and Ray Allen.
