Apparently, Donald Trump Jr. Is Absurdly Cheap
Like the rest of the world, it appears that Vanessa Trump has had enough of her husband, Donald Trump, Jr. The once-aspiring actress and model filed for divorce from her husband of 13 years in March 2018. Now, it appears that she is ready to move forward with her children and put the Trump circus behind her.
Considering Trump Jr.’s antics since his father Donald Trump’s residential campaign and election, an anthrax scare, and news of her soon-to-be ex-husband’s alleged affair with Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day, we can see why Vanessa Trump has had enough. However, cheating, politics, and scary substances might not be the only reason the mother of five is washing her hands of Trump, Jr. Apparently, the businessman is also ridiculously cheap.
A very tacky engagement
When Trump Jr. proposed to Vanessa back in 2004, it wasn’t exactly the most romantic gesture in the world. Though the president’s son popped the question with a $100,000 engagement ring, he apparently wrangled it for free.
According to the New York Post, Trump, Jr. got down on one knee at the Short Hills Mall in New Jersey at the Bailey, Banks & Biddle jewelry store. Along with the “happy couple,” paparazzi and TV camera crews were present.
Apparently, Trump, Jr. got the 4-carat emerald-cut diamond ring — framed by two trapezoid diamonds and set in a platinum mounting boasting another 56 diamonds — for free by doing promotions for Bailey, Banks & Biddle.
Next: The worse kind of attention
Kicked out of the spotlight
When Vanessa Trump said “yes” to Trump, Jr. back in 2004 surrounded by mall kiosks and screaming children, she seemed to revel in the attention.
The New York Post reported, “[She] appeared to enjoy her moment in the spotlight, and revealed that she burst out crying when Donald Jr. popped the question for real in their West Side pad two months ago. The sometime model and aspiring actress admitted she was so surprised when her boyfriend of 1 ½ years proposed that she insisted he propose again – just to be sure.”
We’re going to assume she didn’t know what she was signing up for. The spotlight has since dimmed quite a bit. An insider told US Weekly, “Their social life completely evaporated once Trump took office. They’ve become recluses.”
Next: A very rigid budget
A second class citizen
Despite the Trump name and the wealth that is associated with it, Vanessa Trump has felt none of that security in her marriage to Trump, Jr.
In fact, a source told Page Six, “He treats her like a second-class citizen. He gives her very little help and has been keeping her on a tight budget. She doesn’t live a lavish life and can very rarely pick up a check at dinner.”
Next: Needing a helping hand
Asking mama for money
In fact, Trump Jr. is so tight with his purse strings that Vanessa had to reportedly ask her family for money in order to cover some of her personal expenses.
An insider told Page Six, “Don Jr. was never generous with money. Vanessa has had to rely on her mother for financial help for her personal needs.”
Next: A legendary past
It looks like the soon-to-be former Mrs. Trump is done being treated like a second-class citizen and she’s channeling her younger self to make sure she secures the bag for herself and her children.
She grew up on the Upper East Side in Manhattan and went to the Dwight School. In 1998, one of her former classmates told New York Magazine that Vanessa was, “A total gangster b*tch. She was an ill thug. She went out with this Latin King for like three years.”
Now, she is nowready to get what’s owed to her. Attorney Nancy Chemtob, who is familiar with high profile divorces spoke to Page Six, saying, “[She] timed the filing so it could come before the Robert Mueller investigation potentially put her husband’s assets in danger.”
Next: Keeping it cute
Though reports of Trump Jr.’s cheapness and lack of care as a father have been widely reported, the Trumps are denying it all.
Vanessa Trump’s spokesperson told Page Six, “All of these claims are simply not true. Don and Vanessa have tremendous respect for each other and always have. The notion that she has had to rely on her family for assistance is absolutely false and utterly ridiculous.”
Next: The best support system
It’s great that Vanessa Trump is trying to be amicable with her in-laws and ex-husband in public, at least for the sake of her children. However, according to Page Six, this divorce has been a long time coming. Apparently, many of Vanessa’s friends urged her to call off the wedding when she got engaged in 2004.
Luckily, it looks like those same friends are there to support Vanessa now. A source told US Weekly, “Everyone around Vanessa feels bad for her, but no one is really surprised by the split. It takes a lot to walk away from your marriage to the president’s son, and her family and friends are proud of her.”
We just hope that Vanessa gets every single penny that she and her children are owed.
