News of Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan getting divorced after nine years of marriage broke in April 2018. As opposed to the all-out brawls some Hollywood couples have, Tatum and Dewan kept it classy. The pair released a joint statement, one that says they lovingly chose to separate together.
Then in September 2018 rumors of the eligible bachelor and bachelorette being “off-the-market” began spreading like wildfire. One month later and the name of Tatum’s potential new beau is revealed: Jessie J.
How did Channing Tatum and Jessie J meet?
The Step Up actor’s new flame may have come as a surprise to most, but they actually have history. Tatum and Jessie J first met during the 2015 MTV Movie Awards. He was taking home the win for Best Comedic Performance in 22 Jump Street, and she was presenting the award alongside Mark Wahlberg.
Tatum hugged Wahlberg before sharing some of the love with Jessie J. At the time she was already taken, as she was seeing Luke James. So while sparks may not have been flying at the moment, seeds were definitely planted!
News of the two becoming a pair didn’t surface until October 2018, which is not surprising since they were both tied up in their personal lives. Tatum and Jessie J were spotted playing golf together and it wasn’t the paparazzi that caught them spending quality time. A fan took to Twitter to announce that they had stumbled upon what just might be Hollywood’s next IT couple.
Channing Tatum and Jessie J have supported each other nonstop
After being outed on Twitter, the social media block was broken. In November 2018 the Magic Mike actor took his daughter to see his new lady love’s performance at the Los Angeles Wiltern Theatre. He posted about it on Instagram. Returning the favor, Jessie J went to the Magic Mike opening show in London. Of course, she posted a story on her Instagram shouting out her crush. Then, on November 13, Tatum attended her performance at the Royal Albert Hall and shared a pretty flattering message right on his feed.
“This woman just poured her heart out on stage as the Royal Albert Hall. Whoever was there got to witness something special. Wow.” – Channing Tatum / Instagram
The two continue to have each other’s back and haven’t slowed down on their social media affection. Just look at the sweet birthday message posted for Jessie J this past March.
“Wishing you the happiest day filled with all the love and all the light. You came into this world on this day and lit it on fire. You have blessed our eyes, our ears, our hearts and our lives. So thank you for just being you. You are so very special. Happy birthday Baby.” – Channing Tatum / Instagram
Channing Tatum and Jessie J might be getting married
Forget dating! Rumors about the two going to the next level started making its rounds in March. The power couple continued dropping little notes online, only adding fuel to the fire. Then, last month, Jessie J decided to break the silence. Despite rumors, she let the world know that they were taking things slow.
Jessie J said: “No, just because he’s Channing Tatum everyone’s kind of sped us up in to this, like, ‘are you getting married? Are you doing this?’ I mean, I’ve been in relationships for a lot longer than Chan and I have in the last four, five years but they’re not famous so no one really cares.”
While they aren’t yet talking about marriage or kids, it’s clear that Tatum and Jessie J are a great match. It’s really only a matter of time before they finally tie the knot.
