Will Chip and Joanna Gaines have more kids? They’re so busy with their professional lives and raising five children, but that doesn’t mean they’ve ruled out having more! The couple is definitely open to the idea, with Chip seeming to be all for adding to their family.
Chip gushes over his wife
In a new interview on Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, Chip adorably gushed about his wife after she shared some of the “valuable” failures they’ve experienced along the way of building their empire and what they’ve learned.
He tells her wife, “I love you,” adding, “When you were just saying all those things, my heart just burst open.”
Joanna revealed, “I call him coach! He’s coached me.”
That’s when Chip went all-in on the idea of having another baby, saying, “Forget coach! I’m talking in a much more romantic sense. Like, I could see Crew having a little sibling and me being like, ‘I love this woman!’”
Chip and Joanna might not see eye to eye on more kids
After Chip’s sweet gushing, Joanna joked, “Oh, jeez. Willie, another subject!” but did touch on the idea of having more kids. It seems Chip’s a little more on board with growing their family than she is, though she’s not entirely opposed to the idea.
She told Geist, “When I’m 50, Chip’s gonna want more kids. Just know, this is gonna be the headline forever: Jo’s pregnant again. Chip with children is like business — there’s never too many.”
She continued, “I’m like, ‘Chip I think we’ve got enough, I think we’re good!’ He’s like, ‘I just think we can keep having them!’ I think Chip just loves a full plate.”
Last year, Joanna shared with People that she’s “open” to the idea of more kids, saying, “I joke with my friends that I’m going to be that 45-year-old who’s pregnant. Chip is such a kid at heart and we both love a big family. I’m open to whatever. I’m just having fun with it.”
At the time, Joanna was pregnant with Crew and looking forward to having a different experience with a baby now that her other children are older. She shared: “I had four kids aged 4 and under. There were so many diapers, and it was chaos. Those years just flew because there was so much happening in the moment. I feel like I can really take this one in and relish these moments.”
The Gaines reflect on ending Fixer Upper
During the interview, Chips and Joanna also shared some thoughts on their decision to end their popular HGTV home improvement show Fixer Upper, a decision that they didn’t take lightly.
Chip shared that “it wasn’t an easy decision,” adding, “We wrestled with some counselors, for lack of a better term, that sort of helped us articulate, ‘Do we want to do this or not?’ And I would say the overwhelming majority of those people said, ‘When you turn that television show off, all of this other stuff will come crumbling down.’”
Thankfully, that wasn’t their experience at all, as their other projects thrived, including a restaurant, home building company, real estate agency, their Magnolia housewares, books, marketplace, and magazine, and the launch of their own TV network. Add to that an upcoming coffee shop and hotel, and you could say things are going quite well for the Gaines family.
