Are Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard Going to Have More Kids?

Fans of TLC’s Counting On enjoy taking a look into the Duggar family’s lives, but that’s certainly not the first time we’ve had a chance to see inside their family dynamics. Back in the early 2000s, the network first picked up 19 Kids and Counting, which chronicled the lives of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar and their 19 kids. Nowadays, many of the children we were first introduced to are all grown up and starting families of their own. And while Jill Duggar is still a fan favorite, her husband, Derick Dillard, proves to be seriously polarizing.

Now, fans are wondering if Jill and Derick are planning on expanding their family. Here’s what the couple has said in regards to having more children someday.

Jill and Derick currently have two children, with the most recent born July 2017

Just like the other Duggar kids, Jill and Derick took part in all of the classic courting rituals before tying the knot. And the two wouldn’t have even met without the help of Jill’s father. Derick and Jim Bob were first communicating while Derick was looking for prayer guidance on a mission trip — and Jim Bob thought the two would be a perfect match. He was right, as by 2014, Derick and Jill said “I do” and finally got the chance to hold hands, kiss, and plan out their futures together.

It wasn’t long before the arrival of their first son, Israel, who was born in 2015. Then, just two years later in 2017, the couple’s second son, Samuel, was born. “We’re really excited about having another son,” Us Weekly reports Jill said in a TLC interview. “Thank ya’ll for your well-wishes. We’re so excited about this new blessing from God.”

The couple want as many children as possible, just like Jill’s parents

It’s no secret the Duggars love children, and according to ABC News, Jill and Derick were talking about starting a family well before they were even married. And as far as how many children are concerned, the couple also mentioned they’re open to having “as many kids as God” will allow. The two have also mentioned adoption as an option as well. “My parents have kept popping them out so we’ll see how [our] fertility is!” Jill mentioned.

Unfortunately, Romper reminds us if Jill and Derick do become pregnant again in the near future, it won’t be documented by TLC. And that’s because Derick fell out of favor with the network after a series of transphobic and homophobic tweets. The two haven’t been shy about sharing their upcoming baby news with other outlets, however, so we’re hoping they’ll be candid on social media and tell their fans if (or when) they’re expecting once again.

Fans are concerned she won’t be able to have that many children, however

Jill may be excited to have a gigantic family, but fans are concerned it may not actually be in the cards for the couple. In Touch Weekly reminds us Jill’s first two pregnancies were quite difficult, as Jill labored for 40 hours at home before being taken to the ER during her second pregnancy. Her first pregnancy wasn’t any better, either, as it also required 70 hours of labor. As one Reddit user commented, “It seems like she has a very difficult time bearing children. I’m not a doctor so I’m not sure what the prognosis is regarding future pregnancies when you’ve already had two cesarean sections.” The Reddit user also mentioned that Jill should have a “qualified physician supervise her pregnancy the whole way through instead of just showing up at the ER after laboring at home for three days.”

Other fans weren’t quite as harsh with Jill, however. “My mom has had three c-sections for all three of her children… So yes it is possible for Jill to have more children,” In Touch Weekly notes another fan said. Though they agreed that another birth would most likely mean another c-section for Jill.
