Are Jill Duggar And Derick Dillard Returning To ‘Counting On’?
As Counting On fans know, Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald welcomed their third child on May 26th – a daughter they named Ivy Jane. As expected, the couple filmed a birth special for TLC’s website, but there was a surprise in the episode: the appearance of Jessa’s big sister Jill. The 28-year-old left Counting On in late 2017 after the network fired her husband, Derick Dillard, but she showed up to help Jessa through her labor. Does this mean she is returning to the TLC reality show?
The whole Duggar family was out of town
Jill Duggar arrived at the Seewald’s house not long after Jessa’s water broke, but since she wasn’t expecting to deliver for another week, the rest of the Duggar family wasn’t in town for Ivy Jane’s arrival.
“I think we might deliver in a little bit,” said Jill as Jessa’s contractions get closer together and she feels the baby’s head coming down. Then, Jill – who has training in midwifery – assisted her sister during the delivery.
Jessa ended up giving birth to Ivy at home on the couch, but just like when she delivered her son Henry, Jessa lost a lot of blood. This led to Jill calling 911 for an ambulance to take her sister to the hospital where doctors examined both mom and baby, and then allowed them to return home not long after they arrived.
Is Jill returning to ‘Counting On’?
Because Jill Duggar appeared in the birth special, fans started asking if she was returning to Counting On after an 18-month absence. Not only did Jill help her sister during her delivery, but she also filmed part of the labor and was the one who gave fans a play-by-play as to what was going on.
She also talked to members of the Seewald family, including Ben, who was the one who revealed that they had welcomed a baby girl.
At the moment, it appears Jill just happened to be the one family member in town to help her sister through her labor, and it wasn’t her official return to Counting On. Neither Jill Duggar nor TLC has said anything about her re-joining the cast. And, chances are, the network wants nothing to do with her husband.
Derick Dillard denies that TLC fired him
TLC cut ties with Dillard in November 2017 after he went on a homophobic Twitter rant against fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings, star of I Am Jazz. However, Dillard claims that TLC didn’t fire him. Instead, he says that he decided it was time for his family to leave.
“For the record, I was never fired,” Derick, 30, wrote on Twitter in December 2017. “I just felt it best for my family to cut ties months ago, as we are heading in a different direction.”
Just a few weeks before Dillard’s denial, TLC released a statement saying that Dillard had not participated in Counting On for months, and the network had zero plans to feature him on the show in the future.
The fan theory about Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s marriage
Ever since Jill started courting Derick during 19 Kids & Counting, fans have been skeptical about their relationship. And, when they got married and started their family, the skepticism grew. Many believe Jill isn’t happy in her marriage, and some Counting On fans believe they know why.
According to PopCulture.com, some fans on Reddit think that Jill rushed down the aisle with Derick because she wanted to beat her little sister Jessa and grab the title of being the first girl in the family to get married.
“Don’t have time to shop around when your younger sister is getting married before you,” a Reddit user wrote.
It’s true that Jill and Derick met, courted, and married in just a matter of months, and they have had their ups and downs in their six years together. Even though they no longer appear on Counting On, Jill Duggar still keeps her fans up-to-date with posts on the family blog and on social media.
New episodes of Counting On will return to TLC later this year.
