Are Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s Public Appearances a PR Stunt to Quiet Feud Rumors?

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s recent public appearances have quieted rumors that the duchesses are feuding, but has it all been a PR stunt? Some experts believe that the women spending time together at their husbands’ polo match and at Wimbledon were “carefully orchestrated” moments to put the feud gossip to rest.

Are the duchesses’ recent appearances a setup?

The fact that the duchesses attended two high profile events that gave them a platform to interact and show they’re on friendly terms seems pretty “deliberate,” according to one expert.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight that the appearances “hopefully put to rest the rumors that Kate and Meghan don’t get along because they certainly look like two duchesses who had plenty in common.”

Nicholl added: “There have been two major circumstances, which are very calculated and deliberate efforts to try and stem these rumors about a feud between the foursome. We saw it at the polo match where William and Harry were obviously playing together. We hadn’t expected the duchesses to turn up with their children.”

She continued: “The fact that they did is a wonderful treat for royal watchers, but I think those candid pictures were quite deliberately intended to snuff out those rumors of the feud between the foursome. And you saw them all very close, very happy, very comfortable with each other.”

‘It was carefully orchestrated’

Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe, when asked during an interview with Nine News Australia about the duchesses’ friendly outings, noted, “Isn’t that what we’re supposed to think?”

He added: “It was carefully orchestrated — there are always photographers at these polo matches. They all looked very happy today, so it’s against the backdrop of the rift, of course… I think that they might not be the best of buddies. But you’ve got to take a lot with a pinch of salt… I think they’ll be rather pleased with those pictures.”

Their Wimbledon outing showed two happy duchesses

Additionally, their appearance at Wimbledon painted Markle and Middleton in a favorable light, as Nicholl explained, “We saw Kate and Meghan in the royal box getting along, chatting to each other, looking very much like friends.”

She added: “To have had the tennis [outing] so soon afterward, and obviously the two duchesses being so close together and so comfortable in each other’s company, yes, for the time being, you’re not going to be read stories of a feud. You’re going to be reading stories about how the duchesses get on and I am told that both of them are making an effort to get along.”

Their body language is revealing

Whether or not their appearances together are a PR stunt, you can’t discount that Markle and Middleton’s body language reveals that they seem to be on good terms. Could they possibly be faking it for the cameras to put the feud rumors to rest?

Body language expert Blanca Cobb noted what transpired between the two duchesses when they attended Wimbledon, telling Cosmopolitan “there was no evidence of a feud at the event,” adding that “Meghan and Kate were enjoying each other’s company.”

Cobb further analyzed photos taken at the tournament, noting that one showed: “Meghan’s head is tilted a little bit to the right and Kate’s head is tilted a little bit to the left, and when you lean towards something, you lean towards something you like. It’s subconscious when this happens, so what that tells us is that there’s a level of comfort between them and even though they’re not talking, they’re still enjoying each other’s company.”
