Are Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar Mad that Jana Duggar Isn’t Married?

The Duggar family is well known for having one of the largest families in the United States. But another thing they’re known for is their devotion to God and Christianity. And with such devotion comes the expectation that each child will end up with someone they can spend the rest of their lives with — someone who will share their same love for the Lord. But for Jana Duggar, who is 29 and the oldest daughter in the family, that special someone hasn’t come along yet. And with the Duggars typically marrying so young, could Jana’s parents be mad that she hasn’t settled down?

The Duggars typically marry in their early 20s

While Jana being 29 isn’t too old for most people, it’s a different story for the Duggars. These family members tend to marry very young. Joy Anna, the most recent Duggar daughter to get married, was only 19 when she met the love of her life. And now, John David, Jana’s twin brother, is also married (he wed Abbie Grace Burnett back in November 2018). Now that Jana is almost 30, people have questioned when she’ll finally tie the knot. But she doesn’t seem to be in any rush, unlike her siblings, and it could be because she’s seen how some of the younger marriages have unfolded.

The children can’t move out on their own until they have wed

The Duggars have some major rules in their household that makes them very different from other American households. One of those rules is that the children can’t leave home until they get married. For most of the Duggars, this hasn’t been an issue, but at 29, Jana doesn’t have a choice but to remain in her childhood home. However, she has taken a liking to it. She actually shares a room with her youngest sisters because she loves bonding with them and talking about how everyone’s day went. Living at home has given her a chance to remain close to her sisters and spend some extra time with them.

Jana reportedly doesn’t want to settle — and her parents don’t seem to mind it

Plenty of Counting On fans have wondered why Jana hasn’t walked down the aisle yet. But according to a source close to the family, Jana doesn’t want to settle. While some Duggars get married after courting for less than a month (both Jinger Duggar and John David did this), Jana wants to make sure that she stays in a loving relationship throughout her entire life. She reportedly has seen some negative relationships, although she doesn’t specify which ones, that have made her wary of settling down with someone just to say she’s married. Although her parents think marriage is sacred and something that should be celebrated by all, they don’t seem to mind that she hasn’t left the nest.

Jana spends time with her niece, Felicity, the daughter of Jinger Duggar.

Jana helps her younger siblings out and has taken on the role of a mother’s helper

Jana has been very helpful living at home, and her parents seem very appreciative of it. She has taken on the role of mother’s helper and spends time teaching the younger kids school and helping out around the family home. Plus, she recently spearheaded a master bedroom remodel, along with her younger siblings, to thank her parents for everything they’ve done for all of them in the past. Jana might not be headed for marriage any time soon, but Michelle and Jim Bob don’t seem to care.
