Are Taylor Swift Fans Threatening to Boycott Next Year’s Grammys?

The Grammys are over. The winners have been chosen and the losers, well…some took it more gracefully than others.

One star who couldn’t seem to be any less bothered by the whole ordeal of the Grammys was pop star Taylor Swift. Despite releasing a full album last year, the singer was only nominated for one Grammy.

Her album Reputation was nominated in the Best Pop Vocal Album category. Unfortunately for Swift, Ariana Grande’s Sweetener came out on top and took home the Grammy.

Swift didn’t seem too upset about the loss last night. She wasn’t even at the Grammys. In fact, she wasn’t even on the same continent as the show.

Swift spent the evening with her new beau Joe Alwyn, supporting him at BAFTA Awards events in London.

According to her Instagram, she seemed much more excited about his movie winning awards, than her album losing them.

“AHHHHH @thefavouritemovie just won 7 @bafta awards !!! Bout to go give some high fives – thanks @stellamccartney for this dressss,” she captioned a photo last night.

Though Swift was certainly not drowning in her own tears after the Grammys, her fans didn’t take the snub too kindly.

Fan Reactions

Senior social media producer at ET and self-proclaimed “professional Taylor Swift stan,” Oscar Gracey took to Twitter to express his dismay.

“Taylor Swift doesn’t need the #GRAMMYs,“he wrote. “With her last album, she made the music she wanted to, said everything she needed to say, and reclaimed her reputation. Ugh, I truly love @taylorswift13 with my whole heart.”

Other fans called her loss unfair.

“For me it is very unfair that Taylor does not win the category in which she was nominated in the Grammy’s, knowing that it was a great album!” one fan tweeted.

And Swifts diehard fans were even willing to boycott the show over her loss.

“I don’t care what anyone else thinks, Taylor Swift was robbed at this years Grammys. Only ONE nomination for Reputation, like come on that album is great,” wrote another fan.

Other fans joined in.

“Taylor Swift’s “reputation” joins “RED” as her greatest snubbed albums in #GRAMMYs  history. Grammys don’t decide how great and powerful these albums are,” another fan tweeted.

And the tweets just kept coming in.

“The fact that Taylor Swift was snubbed yet again is just f—ing sad. ‘Sweetener’ didn’t achieve A QUARTER of what ‘Reputation’ achieved but it still won. Taylor sweetie I’m so sorry,” one person wrote.

“Stop watching the Grammys. It’s a good indication when Taylor Swift doesn’t win a Grammy that things are changing,” another tweet said.

Though Swift did not win any Grammys this year, it’s not as if the Recording Academy completely ignores her existence or talent. Over the years, the star has been nominated for 32 awards and won 10 of them. That’s not too shabby of a ratio.

As for whether Swift’s fans are serious or not about boycotting the awards show, we will have to wait until next year to find out.
