Ariana Grande Fires Back at Grammy Producer for “Lying” About Her
As we head into the 2019 Grammys, we can rest assured that there will be a few things that happen. Stars will win, stars will lose, but most of all, there will be drama.
The opening credits haven’t even played on the show and things are already getting messy.
But what’s an award show without a little controversy surrounding it?
The latest star to have an
So why isn’t a girl who is seemingly on top of her music game performing at the music show to end all music shows?
Well, according to Grammys producer, Ken Ehrlich, they didn’t think Grande would have enough time to pull something together.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Erhlich said that his team had been talking to Grande over the past month.
“As it turned out when we finally got the point where we thought maybe it would work, she felt it was too late for her to pull something together for sure,” he told the outlet. “And it’s too bad. She’s a great artist. And I’d love to get her in the show this year.”
The real reason she isn’t performing
When Ehrlich’s interview was released, Grande took to Twitter to call the producer out for spreading false information.
” Mhmmm here it is! ‘Too late for her to pull something together……'” she tweeted along with a screenshot of Ehrlich’s quote from the article.
She went on to defend herself through a series of tweets.
“I’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me,” she tweeted. “I can pull together a performance overnight and you know that, Ken. It was when my creativity & self-expression was stifled by you, that I decided not to attend. I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more. “
She went on to explain that she actually proposed three songs that she could perform to the Grammy producer, but the team failed to work with her.
“I offered 3 different songs,” she wrote. “It’s about collaboration. It’s about feeling supported. It’s about art and honesty. Not politics. Not doing favors or playing games. It’s just a game
She even commented on how the Grammys is using her for promotion despite spreading lies about her, saying that she passed a Grammys bus with her face on it as she was typing the tweets.
Even though she may not be on the best terms with Ehrlich right now, she still expressed gratitude for her nominations.
“Hope that helps everyone understand my decision,” she tweeted. “I am still grateful for the acknowledgment this year.”
Grande’s Sweetener is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album. She also received a nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance.
The Grammys will air on Sunday at 8 pm EST.
