Ariana Grande Promises a ‘Special’ Show in Manchester for her 2019 ‘Sweetener’ Tour
Our love for Ariana Grande keeps on growing!
With the release of her fourth studio album Sweetener, epic breakup anthem “Thank U, Next”, and her soulful ballad “Imagine”, the singer is busy preparing to take her hit songs on the road once again.
The ‘Sweetener’ World Tour is set to begin this spring, but the singer has a little something special up her sleeve for a city that is very close to her heart.
Ariana Grande is performing in Manchester, UK
After announcing her 42-city tour throughout North America (including 9 additional shows), the singer has announced this past Friday that she will be heading to Europe in August 2019 for the leg of her ‘Sweetener’ tour.
The dates of the tour have been revealed and fans quickly realized that Manchester was not on the list of cities Grande is set to perform in. Of course, fans took to Twitter to find out why this was.

The singer revealed on her Instagram stories (the video is now expired) that she will be performing in Manchester and it was left off of the list intentionally because she was planning a “special show” for the city.
The post read, “We need a bit more time getting things together before we can announce that date but we are, of course, coming and we love you,”.
Manchester is very special to Grande
Ariana Grande couldn’t have a European tour without paying a visit to the city that is near and dear to her heart.
Just last year, the unthinkable happened in Manchester during the singer’s Dangerous Woman Tour. On May 22, 2017, as fans were making their way out of the arena after Grande’s performance, a bomb detonated leaving 59 people injured and killing 22 people. Many of the victims were young girls and teenagers.
After the tragedy, Grande honored the victims and their families by raising millions of dollars performing a benefit concert, “One Love Manchester”, just one week after the incident.
The Manchester bombing still weighs heavily on Ariana Grande
On the one year anniversary of the bombing, Grande took to Twitter to write,
thinking of you all today and every day I love you with all of me and am sending you all of the light and warmth I have to offer on this challenging day

Ariana has been very open to how this incident continues to weigh heavily on her mental health. The singer discussed her traumatic experience with British Vogue back in June 2018. “It’s hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss. But, yeah, it’s a real thing,” she says. “I know those families and my fans, and everyone there experienced a tremendous amount of it as well. Time is the biggest thing. I feel like I shouldn’t even be talking about my own experience – like I shouldn’t even say anything. I don’t think I’ll ever know how to talk about it and not cry.”
The singer continues to reflect on that tragic day constantly and is still working hard to find peace from it. Grande has yet to mention what exactly she has planned for the city of Manchester but knowing her it will probably be something huge!
Ariana Grande has a heart of gold and will continue to pay tribute to her Manchester fans.
