Ariana Grande Reportedly Broke Up with Her Boyfriend Mikey Foster — Here’s Why
According to new reports, Ariana Grande is back on the market. Following an alleged months-long relationship with fellow singer Mikey Foster, the “God Is a Woman” crooner reportedly called time on the romance. But why?
Who is Mikey Foster and how did he meet Ariana Grande?
Foster is a member of the pop duo Social House. He’s also a songwriter who has worked with a range of entertainers, from Jennifer Lopez to Lil Yachty.
Foster, 32, seemingly met Grande around 2015 when he worked on her Christmas & Chill EP. He has also had a hand in some of her biggest hits such as “Thank U, Next,” and “7 Rings.”
Eventually, their working relationship developed into a friendship. In a tribute for Grande’s 26th birthday back in June, Foster called the singer “one of the most incredible people the universe has to offer.” In response, Grande commented, “love u sooooooo much,” with a series of emojis.
Mikey Foster and Ariana Grande sparked romance rumors in 2019
The two were romantically-linked in August 2019 when they released a steamy video for Grande’s song “Boyfriend.” Later, the entertainers were seen holding hands in Chicago.
Some sources initially downplayed the apparent romance, but the singer’s brother, Frankie Grande, let it slip in September 2019 that he had gone on a double date with the pair. However, he later doubled back and insisted Grande was single.
The rumors would continue for months, though — until March 3 when a source told Us Weekly that Grande and Foster were “not dating anymore.”
Grande’s alleged relationship with Foster was her first known romance since she split from Pete Davidson (May to October 2018). Davidson recently revealed a big factor in their breakup, citing the sudden and tragic September 2018 death of Grande’s ex Mac Miller, whom she dated from 2016 to 2018.
The singer has also had romances with dancer Ricky Alvarez (2015 to 2016) and rapper Big Sean (2014 to 2015), among other people.
The reported reason Ariana Grande split from rumored boyfriend Mikey Foster
Shortly after the news of the breakup emerged, HollywoodLife got in touch with an “insider” who shared the alleged reason the two split up. According to them, the relationship simply ran its course, which isn’t a big deal considering they apparently were never very serious to begin with.
“Ariana and Mikey were a fling that was fun but it wasn’t ever going to lead into something super serious,” an insider explained.
“Ariana really liked Mikey, but she wasn’t head over heels over him,” the source added. “They were just enjoying their chemistry and tried to see if it could be more. It ended up not being what they had thought would happen and they are totally cool about it. They had fun and they are friends. No real drama to worry about. Hearts aren’t broken.”
The claim about Grande and Foster still being friends seems to check out. The singers were seen together as recently as February when they visited Disneyland together and appeared to be in all smiles.
So while things didn’t work out, it’s nice to see that they’ve remained friends and cordial towards each other.
