Back in August, Graham announced two reasons to celebrate – her ninth wedding anniversary with husband Justin Ervin, along with the news that they were adding to their family. “Nine years ago today, I married the love of my life. It has been the best journey with my favorite person in the world!” she wrote on Instagram. “Today, we are feeling so blessed, grateful and excited to celebrate with our GROWING FAMILY! Happy anniversary, @mrjustinervin ❤️ Life is about to get even better. “

A vocal advocate of body positivity, Graham soon took to social media to share the physical shifts she was going through as she embarked on her pregnancy journey. Baring it all in an apparently naked photo of herself with her hand covering her breast, Graham posted a completely unfiltered photo of her body showing her stretch marks and veins, simply with the caption, “Same same but a little different.”

Doubting her decision

Despite evoking a confident attitude, Graham can still relate to struggles with insecurity. According to Yahoo! Lifestyle, the supermodel recently shared some challenging feelings she was going through with her pregnancy on the EllenTube series Fearless.

When the topic of her revealing Instagram photo came up while speaking with mom-of-four Taylor Hoit, Graham said that she wrestled with the decision to post the vulnerable pic. “The reason I had posted that original photo, I had just announced that I was pregnant and I thought then I was gonna feel good, and I didn’t. I felt, I just felt terrible,” Graham said, fighting back tears. “That morning I was like, get it together, Ashley. There’s other women out there that are going through the same thing as you. Why don’t you have a dialogue with them?”

The mom-to-be shared that she was trying to combat the loneliness she felt in her “new world of body confidence.” “This is a new body that I’m walking into, why don’t I just put myself out there with this new body?” she said. “I felt so isolated, I felt so alone.”

Hoit related to Graham’s comments, sharing her feelings when she posted a pic of herself 10 weeks after giving birth to twins. “I struggled, like, I wanted to take it down,” Hoit said of the photo. “And then [Graham] liked it and I was like, ‘I’m gonna keep it up.’ And that’s the truth.”

Massive online support

Despite her doubts, Graham soon found an abundance of support from followers, including some celebs. According to People, Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum commented, “My Lord, THANK YOU for this.” Model Lily Aldridge and actress Niecy Nash replied to Graham’s post with a series of red heart emojis.

Fans also praised the supermodel for her authenticity. “I freaking love you for this. THIS is what real women look like. This is me, what I look like. Fabulous empowering amazing beautiful fearless!!!” one follower wrote.

Other followers recognized Graham’s transparency as being a positive example for young girls. “This is what girls need to see. We need this as a reference for real and relatable. Women young and old. Thank you!” a fan posted.

Graham’s keep-it-real mentality is a breath of fresh air to her continually growing fan base!
