Aubrey Plaza Is on a Quarantine Text Chain With These ‘Parks and Recreation’ Co-Stars

Aubrey Plaza made some lifelong friends when she starred as April Ludgate on Parks and Recreation. Some of her pals from the show created a text chain for these trying times — find out which of Plaza’s co-stars regularly text each other.

Aubrey Plaza and some of her ‘Parks and Recreation’ co-stars have a text chain

Given the close-knit family they developed during their time working on Parks and Recreation, it’s not that surprising to hear that the cast members keep in touch quite regularly.

With everything going on in the world during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Plaza and some of her former co-stars have been leaning on each other for support.

During an interview with BuzzFeed, Plaza was asked, “Which of your Parks and Rec costars do you talk to the most these days?”

Not that surprisingly, Plaza revealed that she and a few of the women from the show are in touch with each other via a “quarantine ladies text chain.”

“Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, and Kathryn Hahn,” she answered. “I mean, honestly, I talk to a lot of them — we all talk to each other all the time — but I would say Amy, Rashida, and Kathryn and I have been on this quarantine ladies text chain where we’ve been commiserating and helping each other through these strange times. It’s been really nice to have them.”

Plaza also shared the last time they were together in person — in more “regular” times, the ladies gathered for “Galentine’s Day,” but during the pandemic, they were able to have a socially distanced gathering.

“We were together on Galentine’s Day last year,” Plaza said. “We had one socially distanced outdoor hang a couple weeks ago, which was really cool. Hopefully this pandemic will pass by and we can all get in the hot tub again.”

Will there be a ‘Parks and Recreation’ movie?

The interviewer had to ask Plaza her thoughts on whether there will be a Parks and Rec movie. Plaza didn’t have a lot of insight but teased that yes, there could be a movie.

“No idea. No idea. Are we done with Parks & Rec? No,” she said. “Will there be a movie? Yes. Do I know this for sure? No.”

The cast of Parks and Recreation did reunite virtually for a special episode in April to raise money for Feeding America. Even though they were together — but apart — it was evident that they still had the chemistry that fans knew and loved during the show’s seven seasons.

During a Parks and Rec PaleyFest session in 2019, Patton Oswalt, who was moderating, suggested a movie. Michael Schur, one of the show’s co-creators, didn’t think it was out of the question.

“I think we would only do it if we all felt like there was something compelling us to do it… As tempting as it is, I don’t want to just make more episodes of the show.”

Plaza told Deadline at the time that she imagined April would have 10 children, explaining, “Because I know Andy and April aren’t going to stop. And they don’t use protection. They don’t know where to get it. They’ll probably have a lot of children. I feel like she’s the breadwinner, she’s wearing $3,000 suits while Andy makes pancakes.”
