Audrina Patridge Cries Talking About Being a Single Parent on ‘The Hills: New Beginnings:’ ‘It’s Hard’
Being a parent is hard. And being a single parent is even harder.
Audrina Patridge, 34, who stars in The Hills: New Beginnings, the reboot of MTV’s reality series, The Hills, discussed being a single parent with her co-star, Heidi Montag, 32, while unwinding at a spa.
“I’ve been going through a lot on the personal side of things with court and custody, just everything at once. It’s been so hard lately,” Patridge said as she started to cry.
“You get so used to having someone there all the time and then it’s getting used to being there on your own and being a single mom. It really hit me today,” she added after Montag gave her a hug.
Patridge shares a daughter Kirra, who recently turned three years old, with her ex-husband, Corey Bohan, whom Patridge divorced in 2018.
“I can’t imagine because I’m sure for Kirra you want to, like, seem strong and keep it together,” Montag replied.
Even though it’s tough being a single parent, Patridge said she seeks solace in her daughter.
“My little girl is my pride and joy and she literally is like an angel sent from God. I could cry, I love her so much,” she said in an interview for the show before breaking down on camera.
Patridge’s divorce from the BMX cyclist became official in December of 2018, according to Us Weekly.
Patridge ‘is in a very vulnerable, fragile state,’ Montag says
Hearing about her friend’s struggles gave Montag perspective on her own life, namely her marriage to Spencer Pratt with whom she shares a one-year-old son, Gunner Stone.
“I feel like Audrina is in a very vulnerable, fragile state. I think that she has a lot that she’s dealing with and it does remind me and make me so thankful for the awesome marriage that I’m so blessed to have with Spencer,” Montag said.
During their conversation at the spa, Patridge said going through a divorce made her take a larger look at her life and the people in it. “It literally makes you look at what life is all about and the people you want around you and the people you want around your child,” she said.
Audrina Patridge and Bohan still having custody issues
Patridge who has been in an ongoing custody battle with her ex-husband had issues regarding visitation over the Fourth of July holiday, according to People.
The Hills veteran called the police to conduct a welfare check on Kirra after Bohan didn’t return their daughter to her care per their custody agreement, the news outlet noted per TMZ.
Per their arrangement, Kirra’s supposed to return to her mother Thursday mornings and on the Fourth of July, she and her father didn’t show up for their regular custody swap.
Patridge tried contacting her ex-husband to no avail and eventually called authorities to track down the whereabouts of her daughter, who then found Kirra in the care of her father at his home. Reportedly, the incident was a misunderstanding with Bohan thinking it was his day to be with Kirra.
