Ava Phillippe Said the Sweetest Thing About Her Mom Reese Witherspoon

Ava Phillippe and her mother, actress Reese Witherspoon, are daughter/mother goals. Not only do the two blondes look exactly alike, but they also have the best relationship. Though the teen model stayed under the radar when she was growing up, as she’s gotten older, Phillippe has been more present in Hollywood, especially when it comes to supporting her Academy Award-winning mom.

Phillippe is making a name for herself in fashion and in the entertainment industry at a pivotal time. As the #MeToo and Time’s Up Movements continue to pick up steam, Witherspoon has been a major advocate for women’s rights, even telling her personal stories of sexual harassment and a sexual assault when she was just 16. Now, Phillippe is standing with her mother and saying the kindest things about her.

It’s no secret that Phillippe is her mother’s doppelganger. Apparently they even sometimes share clothing. However, those aren’t the only similarities between the two. Witherspoon told her fashion and lifestyle brand Draper James that they also have similar personalities.

She explained, “I think the way Ava and I are most alike is our strong opinions and our empathy. From the time that she could speak, Ava has always had her own ideas, and I love to watch her express herself.”

Though Witherspoon is a force in Hollywood, Phillippe has still been able to carve out a path for herself in fashion because of her mom’s direction.

The younger blonde told Draper James, “I think as a teenager, it’s important to have both guidance and freedom in finding your style, and my mom is really good at balancing that.”

Witherspoon has been in the entertainment industry for over two decades. Now, she’s focused on delivering stories for and about women, which she did with her award-winning HBO series, Big Little Lies.

The Wild actress has obviously been thinking about the next generation of women, including her daughter. Witherspoon told Entertainment Tonight, “I think about the little girls out there who watch women be the architect for their own stories and write their own stories and produce them and act in them, and take the power back, and be motivated by motivating them.”

Phillippe has been an avid supporter of her mother through the #MeToo and Time’s Up Movements. Just before the Golden Globes in January 2018, she shared the sweetest post about her mother on Instagram.

Phillippe wrote,

Thank you to my inspiration of a mother and to all the women paving the way for those who face these abuses of power. I see how hard these women are working to unite people of various backgrounds and to institute real, lasting change, and I am so proud of what they have and will accomplish. We often focus on romantic love in our society, but with her new Draper James Spring collection, Witherspoon wanted to focus on her bond with Phillippe.

She explained,

There are so many different kinds of loving relationships … it doesn’t always have to be romantic love! Spring is a time to celebrate all the love you have in your life. I thought it might be fun to focus on Mother/Daughter love this Spring. There is nothing like the love I have for my daughter. We share every emotion with each other, our hopes, and dreams … We can talk for hours!!

We all know that the teen years can bring a bit of friction when it comes to parents and their teenagers. With mothers and daughter, in particular, it can sometimes feel like a war zone.

However, that isn’t the case with Phillippe and Witherspoon. The fashion model explained,

I love being around my mom, and this shoot was an opportunity to have fun and support her work as a female entrepreneur. She also brings a lot of comfort and positive energy with her to work, and I think it’s inspiring to see her personal relationships with everybody on set. I had a great time being a part of the shoot with the bonus of having even more mother/daughter pictures.

It looks like mama Witherspoon raised her daughter to be her own person who stands up for herself.

The actress told Vanity Fair at the Big Little Lies Season 1 premiere, “We talk about things … like what she’s comfortable with. She doesn’t do anything that she’s not comfortable with.”
