‘Avengers: Endgame’: Which Superhero Will Fans Miss the Most?

Avengers: Endgame will be coming to theaters on April 26th. The much-anticipated film will be following The Avengers as they clean up the mess their formidable foe made in the last installment. Avengers: Endgame truly marks the end of an era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thankfully there are a series of upcoming movies featuring some of The Avengers squad, post the insanity that’s coming in Endgame. With new movies on the horizon, which superhero from the die-hard team will fans miss the most?

Spiderman is returning to theaters sooner than you think

I just realized I’m not playing Spider-Man.

Spidey fans have to worry the least. The web-slinger will be popping up on the big screen in Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5th. That’s only a few months after Endgame wraps up so there’s no need to start reminiscing. Spider-Man: Far From Home will be the first film in Marvel’s fourth phase and the second Spiderman film in the MCU aka the sequel to Spiderman: Homecoming.

Tom Holland won’t be the only actor fans can look forward to catching in the film. Jake Gyllenhaal will be starring opposite him as the iconic supervillain, Mysterio. It should be interesting watching two strong male actors go head to head as characters with such thorough development and history already in place.

Black Widow is also coming to theaters

Black Widow also has her own film on the horizon. The film brings back the gorgeous Scarlett Johansson in the role of the sexy superheroine. The rest of the cast is also slowly being announced. There is talk of Johansson tearing up the big screen alongside Suicide Squad’s David Harbour, Malevolent’s Florence Pugh, and The Favourite’s Rachel Weisz. The film is currently in pre-production so perhaps it will be Marvel’s May 2020 release!

So what’s the film about? The plot remains unknown but a possible synopsis was leaked. Natasha Romanoff was given to the KGB at birth in hopes of grooming the perfect operative. When the U.S.S.R dismantles, they try to take down their ultimate weapon with them. They fail, and Romanova becomes a standalone operative in NYC. The film follows her adventures in the city that never sleeps, 15 years later.

‘Black Panther’ is getting a sequel

Black Panther made cinematic history. The all-black cast was something that is unheard of in Hollywood. Not to mention catching a “lesser appreciated” superhero on the big screen brought comic book nerds to the theaters in droves. While fans got to catch their main man in The Avengers, seeing a movie featuring T’Challa alongside his own crew is bound to be a big box office hit, just like its predecessor!

Considering how successful it was, the heat is on for producing something that can top the original. There is also the issue of the current state of affairs in the Marvel universe. As far as the public is concerned, T’Challa is dust and Shuri is MIA. Endgame will have to pull some rabbits out of its hat to set the stage for the second installment. While the debut date is unknown, there is speculation of the film hitting the theaters in February 2021.

Benedict Cumberbatch is reprising the role of Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange was a mind-bending masterpiece! So much so that catching the mathematical genius in The Avengers was more than a treat. Benedict Cumberbatch did a fantastic job of bringing the iconic comic book character to life. So, when Stephen Strange took one for the team at the end of Avengers: Infinity War it was a devastating blow.

Thankfully he isn’t out for good, evident by the upcoming sequel. There’s no saying exactly when the film will debut, but what’s definite is that it will be a surreal adventure with interesting characters and a formidable foe.

Who will fans miss the most? Iron Man or Captain America?

Iron Man is done. Well, at the very least Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark is seemingly done. The actor is apparently bowing out of the superhero role as his contract is up, but what does that mean for the MCU? Depending on how Avengers: Endgame goes, it may very well be the last chance to catch the Stark Industries CEO on the big screen.

What about Captain America? His future in the MCU is unknown. He may make an appearance in one of the other films in the upcoming phases and given he’s commented he’s down for playing the Cap again, there’s a better chance of it. Looks like Iron Man is taking home the trophy for future most missed character with Captain American getting an honorable mention!
