‘B Positive’: Drew Uses a Tracking App to Keep Tabs on Gina

If you haven’t seen this show yet, we’ll give you a bit of background. B Positive, starting Silicon Valley’s Thomas Middleditch, is about a man who finds out he needs a kidney transplant. He can’t find anyone close to him to donate a kidney, so he accepts an offer from an old high-school acquaintance, Gina.

It’s great that Gina offered to donate, but the big problem is that she’s a mess. Gina drinks, takes drugs, and parties too much. She agreed to refrain from her vices for three months so that she can give Drew a healthy kidney. Drew goes one step further and asks Gina to move in with him so he can keep an eye on her and make sure she’s taking care of her body.

Drew is getting nervous

During season 1, episode 5 (titled “High Risk Factor”), Drew gets very anxious. He’s grateful for Gina’s sacrifice, but he doesn’t trust her. They live together, but he wants to keep a close eye on her so he can ensure he gets the healthiest kidney possible.

The best solution Drew can come up with is to use a tracking app so he can keep tabs on Gina. She doesn’t like the idea of the app, but Drew convinces her that it’s fine because all the parents at school have one.

Things get tense when Drew takes a look at his tracking app and sees that Gina is at a skydiving facility. During one of his therapy sessions with a client, he glances at his phone and immediately starts to panic. After he finishes the session, he runs out of the house to find Gina.

What happened last week on ‘B Positive’

During season 1, episode 4 (titled “Joint Pain”) Drew goes through a difficult divorce mediation. He decides to let his ex-wife, Julia, have everything, but she’s not satisfied. After the meeting, Drew decides he does want some of the belongings he gave up. One item he’s hoping to get back is his ceramic owl.

The owl meant a lot to Drew because it reminds him of the time he and Julia were trying to get back at a mechanic who ripped them off. Their way of getting revenge was to steal an owl from the gas station. Drew thought he still had the owl, but when he looked for it, he realized Julia had taken it with her.

Thomas Middleditch on his role in ‘Silicon Valley’

Middleditch admits during The Last Laugh podcast that he wanted to move away from his character on Silicon Valley and do other things. He says he doesn’t want to be boxed into just one type of character, reports The Daily Beast.

“There are lots of people not realizing that I’m playing a character,” Middleditch told writer Matt Wilstein. “I’m excited that anyone could be like, ‘Whoa, Richard Hendricks does all these weird characters.’ That’s exciting to me. As an actor if you get one of those roles that feel defining in some way—or pigeonholing or boxing—you’re always eager to show the other aspects of yourself.”
