Baby Archie Had a Cuddle Session With This Iconic Woman
Baby Archie is only two months old and he has already met all kinds of famous people. His parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, are two extremely popular royals, so little Archie has been acquainted with other members of the royal family as well as Hollywood celebrities like Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra, and Serena Williams.
Recently, Archie also got to add another famous name to his list of celebrity encounters. Read on below to find out who Archie bonded with and what they did together.
Jane Goodall visited Baby Archie at Frogmore Cottage
Last month, anthropologist Jane Goodall made a visit to Frogmore Cottage — where Prince Harry and Meghan live — and met Baby Archie. Goodall shared with reporters about the experience last week. “He’s very cute and very gentle,” she said, revealing that she also got to cuddle with the newborn.
Goodall’s description of Archie actually backs up what Markle had said before. She once shared that her son is “very calm” and has “the sweetest temperament.”
Meghan Markle is a huge fan of Jane Goodall
While Archie is too young to really process what a great honor it is to meet Goodall, his mother understands it very well. In fact, she is reportedly a fan of the conservationist. Goodall said: “[Meghan Markle] told me she’s followed me all her life. She told me, ‘You’ve been my idol since I was a child. I’ve hero worshipped you all my life.”
Jane Goodall and Prince Harry have worked together before
This was not the first time that Goodall and Prince Harry met each other. The two of them have worked together several times before. In fact, one time, Goodall even taught the Duke of Sussex a “chimp greeting” — something he still remembers to this day.
However, the reason for their meeting now is because Prince Harry is interested in working closely with Roots and Shoots, a program founded by Goodall in 1991 to encourage young people to care more about animals and the environment.
“We talked about Roots and Shoots and I said, ‘Of course you’re interested now, you have a baby,’ and he said, ‘Of course!'” Goodall shared. “When you bring a child into the world, you have to worry about the future. If we don’t make change, we don’t have a future. It’s as simple as that.”
Last week, Goodall and Prince Harry came together for a special Roots and Shoots event, where they had conversations with young people about sustainability.
“She is a woman of kindness, warmth, immense knowledge and a softness that’s needed by mankind just as much as it is chimpkind,” Prince Harry said at the meeting. “I’ve been admiring her work since I was a kid, and it was so wonderful to find that she was even more amazing in person.”
Prince Harry has been leading other conservation efforts as well
In 2018, Prince Harry was named the president of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, a charity focusing young people’s work on a variety of issues – one of which is the environment. As such, Prince Harry’s collaboration with Goodall does not come as much of a surprise for royal fans.
The Duke of Sussex has also been a voice against poaching and wildlife threats in Southern Africa. He often works with conservation groups in countries like Malawi to protect endangered species and find ways for humans and animals to co-exist. In 2017, he was even appointed the president of African Parks, a non-profit organization in South Africa.
Now that Markle has joined the family, there’s no doubt that she will be right beside Prince Harry in promoting these efforts. The couple will embark on a tour of Southern Africa in the fall and conservation is likely to be one of the topics they want to highlight.
