‘The Bachelor’: Chris Soules Attends His First Red Carpet Event Since Fatal Car Crash
In 2017, former bachelor Chris Soules was arrested after police alleged that he fled the scene of a car collision before officers arrived. The Iowa State Patrol crash report states that he rear-ended a John Deere tractor-trailer with his pickup, killing 66-year-old farmer Kenneth Mosher.
He was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and received two years probation.
Chris Soules says he’s received a lot of support in the last two years
Soules was a fan-favorite when he starred on The Bachelorette, and was well-received when he became the bachelor as well.
After his involvement in the car accident, Soules says he received a lot of support from Bachelor Nation.
“It’s always been an awkward situation for all of us, but I’ve had nothing but support from family and friends,” he told Entertainment Tonight at KIIS FM’s iHeartRadio Jingle Ball. “…I’ve had so much support throughout everything. Thank everyone.”
Two of Soules’ Bachelor Nation friends, Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon, were also at the event and glad to see their friend out and about again.
“Chris has been a friend and it was just a horrible situation that happened a couple years ago, and I remember first hearing about it, and it’s that moment where your heart sinks and you have no idea what’s going to happen, because Chris is such a good friend, and it was tragic what happened,” Haibon shared.
He continued: “You go through so many emotions as a friend, because you just don’t know the situation and you’re hearing rumors about what exactly happened and what didn’t happen.”
“I’m just really happy for him right now, that he’s hopefully being able to get back to his life, because I don’t think he was able to for the last few years. And so, we’ll still be there to support him. We watched football together a couple Sundays ago,” he added.
“He’s just such a kind guy, so good-hearted,” said Iaconetti. “And I’m happy to see him out here living.”
Chris Soules’ first red carpet since the car accident
During his interview with Entertainment Tonight, Soules was asked what it’s been like returning to the spotlight.
He assured his interviewer that he wasn’t “really returning to the spotlight.”
“I’m here for a really great concert,” he said. “I’m here in L.A. and kind of just living the dream a little bit.”
Soules says he’s more or less done with the spotlight. At least, The Bachelor spotlight.
“I wouldn’t [go on the show] for a second time. I’ve been down that road, it’s been a great experience,” he said. “The relationships that I’ve taken away… I have nothing but the upmost respect for [The Bachelor] and the people I’ve been able to meet as a result of it.”
Soules also shared that he’s beginning to date again.
“I’m finally at a point in my life where I’m ready to date again,” he said.
He says he’s dating but not involved in anything “serious serious” at the moment.
Career-wise, “as a result of everything,” Soules says he’s focused on agriculture and “organic hemp production back in Iowa.”
“You gotta move on in life and do your thing at some point, and try to make yourself a better person,” he said.
