‘Bachelor’ Host Chris Harrison Supports Peter Weber and Kelley Flanagan’s Romance: ‘I Wish Them the Best’

This past season of The Bachelor was one of the wildest yet, and no one could’ve predicted how it would end. We know Peter Weber got down on one knee for Hannah Ann Sluss, and they appeared to end the show happily engaged. But then, the truth came out — and it was clear to Sluss that Weber wasn’t over Madison Prewett who left the show prior to the last rose ceremony. Not only that, but it seemed Weber wasn’t totally over Hannah Brown, either. Sluss and Weber thus called off the engagement.

Now, it looks like Weber might be hitting it off with another contestant on his season who didn’t make it to the end, Kelley Flanagan. And host Chris Harrison actually seems supportive of their love. Here’s what’s going on.

Chris Harrison noted Peter Weber was having a tough time after ‘The Bachelor’ finale

Weber’s season was tough to watch. While fans adored how Sluss handled herself in the wake of the breakup, it was clear Weber’s mother, Barbara, had plenty to say to Prewett. During the live finale, Prewett and Weber hinted that they wanted to try and make their relationship work once again. But Barb claimed those who watched the season didn’t know Prewett in the same bad light her family did.

Harrison noted in the past that he thought Prewett deserved better than how Barb treated her. And he also shared some sympathy for Weber’s situation.

“I have exchanged texts with Peter today. And all I will say — because I don’t want to give too much away, because it’s a really personal conversation — he’s having a tough time,” Harrison told Entertainment Tonight. “He’s a little beat up by everything. … Right now he’s concentrating on trying to put all this back together — his relationship with Madison, his relationship with his family. So I just said, ‘I love you, I’m there if you need me, if you need a room.'”

Kelley Flanagan and Weber were spotted together in March

Flanagan was a fan favorite through Weber’s season. They met each other outside of the show prior to The Bachelor, and Weber suggested Flanagan try and compete for his love. While she didn’t make it all the way to the end, it’s clear they had a lasting connection. And now, photos showed Flanagan and Weber getting ultra-close after Weber’s breakup with both Sluss and Prewett.

On March 25, photos released showing Weber and Flanagan in Chicago together. And one photo even shows Weber with Flanagan over his shoulder in a playful manner.

It’s unclear when the two reconnected, but many suspected they were seeing each other when Flanagan appeared in the audience for the live finale.

Not everyone’s impressed with Weber and Flanagan’s possible romance. But it seems Harrison remains supportive of the ex-Bachelor. Harrison and his girlfriend, Lauren Zima, spoke to People about the relationship.

“I would just say this, and not about any specific couple, but if any of these people can find love, if any of them find a great stable relationship that makes each other happy, then God bless them,” Harrison noted. “If you’ve learned anything from our show, it’s that love comes in crazy ways, and Lauren and I have found the same thing in our own private life.”

Harrison then noted that love is “tough to find,” and it’s often messy. He then likened Weber to other Bachelors who’ve had controversial seasons, like Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Jason Mesnick. “There’s no magic pill. So however these people find it, good on them and I wish them the best.”

Not everyone agrees with Harrison, but we know he has a good relationship with Weber and his family, so this optimistic view makes sense. We’ll have to see if Weber and Flanagan will continue seeing each other.
