Blake Horstmann on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Season 6

By the time Horstmann arrived on the beach in Mexico, he’d already made connections with several other cast members. He slept with two BIP contestants at Stagecoach and went to visit another in her hometown.

Then, when the season started airing, Caelynn Miller-Keyes opened up about her relationship with Horstmann prior to filming. She said that they spoke regularly and that, just before arriving in Mexico, Horstmann began ignoring her and acting like they never shared a connection. At one point, she said he “silenced” her and that he made her feel like she was a “dirty secret.”

In response, Horstmann posted a private text conversation between him and Miller-Keyes in an effort to show that the nature of their relationship had been casual.

In the end, Horstmann never did find love on the beach. He went home before the season ended.

“I was just f*cked up,” he said. “Like, I just had to stay off social media. I was so f*cked up and, you know, it’s hard. It’s one of those things where had I kept posting—and this is my business side of things—had I kept posting, I could have maybe hit the million mark, you know. But I was just in such a f*cked up mental state that I couldn’t. There was no way that I could post or get on Instagram.”

“I was just getting bullied every night,” he added.

Blake Horstmann called the ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ producers and asked for ‘mercy’

Horstmann said he was getting bullied “nonstop,” so he reached out to the Bachelor in Paradise producers.

“I remember calling the producers and I literally was like, ‘mercy,'” he said. “I was like, ‘mercy,’ like cut me out of the rest of the show. I was just like, ‘I want no more.’ And they did that. Like, they did help me out a little bit, but I was just like, ‘I can’t handle this anymore.’ I was like, ‘I’m going to f*cking kill myself. Like, just get me mercy.'”

Even though Horstmann was indeed cut out of much of the remainder of the season, he says it was still “hard.” A lot of Bachelor alums reached out to him to show their support privately, but he says he received very little public solidarity.

“I know that’s a blessing in disguise of all this,” he said. “Like I, uh, I definitely, like, found out who my real friends were through it.”
