‘Bachelor in Paradise’: Caelynn Miller-Keyes Responds to Leaked Text Messages Between Her and Blake Horstmann

Oh, the tangled web we weave. As we go into week two of Bachelor in Paradise, the saga between Caelynn Miller Keye’s and Blake Horstmann continues.

According to Miller-Keyes, she and Horstmann had been getting to know each other and Facetiming every day. They ended up hooking up one night at Stagecoach Festival, only for Horstmann to tell her that he had spent the night with former Bachelor in Paradise contestant Kristina Schulman 24 hours before.

“I thought he was a great guy and that we really had something,” Miller-Keyes told bartender Wells Adams of Horstmann. “We talked about skipping Paradise and coming out with us, and then he ghosted me. Just like fully stopped communication and now I’m here. F—ing first date. And then we saw each other at a music festival. He ended up sweet-talking me and we spent the night together. And we wake up and I’m in his bed and he’s DMing Hannah G. I’m still in his bed, he’s talking about how hot Tayshia is. I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Like no dude, that’s not okay. And then he was like, ‘I just want to let you know I hooked up with Kristina the night before.'”

Horstmann releases text messages

When Miller-Keyes told her side of the story, people began to turn on Horstmann. Tayshia Adams, who Horstmann had been really hitting it off with in Paradise, said that she wanted nothing to do with him after hearing how he handled things with Schulman and Miller-Keyes. But after the show aired, Horstmann wanted to clear his name.

“I want the get the truth out,” he said as part of a lengthy post on Instagram. “I was not able to defend myself down in Paradise, because me and most of the beach had no idea the things Caelynn was saying in her interviews. I NEVER ‘sweet-talked’ her at Stagecoach. Caelynn and I were NEVER in a relationship. I NEVER ghosted Caelynn, I NEVER called her a mistake and I absolutely NEVER EVER EVER silenced Caelynn. I never expected to have to do something like this, but after finally seeing the episodes I feel like I have no other choice but to release the text exchanges between her and myself.”

The text messages that were released showed Miller-Keyes persuing Horstmann, telling him that if she came over it would only be for sex.

Horstmann turned her down in multiple messages, but Miller-Keyes continued to pursue.

Later, they texted about whether to talk about their hookup on Paradise.

“Dude I’m shaking/Who knows?/And how?/We’ve been so careful/What happened?” Miller-Keyes texted.

“I really don’t want to tell people but I also don’t want people finding out and looking like a liar,” she continued.

How does Miller-Keyes feel about the texts?

Apparently, Miller-Keyes knew that Horstmann was planning to release the texts.

“Caelynn heard the texts were being released a little ahead of time, and she’s gone pretty quiet” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “She’s frustrated and seems to be done taking shots at Blake. She and Blake haven’t talked.”

Miller-Keyes recently took to Instagram to respond.

“Here we go… I am not here to deny those text messages or the conversations that took place,” she wrote. “Things got taken out of context on the show, and a large part of the story is missing.”

She went on to say that she and Horstmann had been talking in the months leading up to Stagecoach and that the texts did not accurately depict their relationship.

Here we go… I am not here to deny those text messages or the conversations that took place. Things got taken out of context on the show, and a large part of the story is missing. The reality of the situation is that Blake was not a one night stand at a music festival and the ‪5 am‬ text exchange that Blake chose to share is not an accurate representation of our past relationship. I take ownership for what I said on the beach. I was upset and I let my emotions control my words. However, I did not go on a show to ruin someone’s character. I attempted to address my feelings and the situation with Blake face to face. It’s unfortunate that I didn't get the same respect in return, and I am absolutely mortified our private texts were put out there for the world to see and judge by someone who I trusted and consider a friend nonetheless. It’s clear to me that Blake and I had different ideas of what our “relationship” was. We started talking months before Stagecoach. We FaceTimed everyday and talked about potentially skipping paradise to be together. When I say he ghosted me, it was after those few months of us talking.  It was my understanding there was no one else and I thought we were on the same page. What infuriates me the most is that I’m being trolled for having sex because of what I’ve been through. I want to be very clear that I am not looking for sympathy. I took the necessary steps to move on and heal, but I will not be abstinent for the rest of my life because of it. This is a complicated situation considering it’s not only on TV, but has taken a life of its own on the internet.  This could’ve been over after last night’s episode, but since it’s now all over Instagram, I felt like it was imperative to share my truth. We all have our own perception of how different situations unfold and there are many sides to this story. I hope that we can all move forward and support one another, rather than tear each other down. I have moved on and I am excited to continue to share the rest of my journey with you all.
