‘Bachelor In Paradise’: Connor Saeli On Why He And Whitney Fransway Didn’t Work Out
Bachelor Nation first met Connor Saeli on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette. He was the sticky-note guy who left Brown a bunch of sweet little messages around her hotel room when she was sick.
He didn’t last too long, though.
Saeli returned to the reality TV scene on the most recent season of Bachelor In Paradise. But he arrived on the show pretty late.
Luckily for him, Caelynn Miller-Keyes had just gotten dumped by Dean Unglert and she was single and ready to mingle (particularly with him). The two went on a spicy date together and hit it off.
But as BIP fans aren’t soon to forget, Unglert returned for Miller-Keyes and the former beauty pageant winner decided to break things off with Saeli and pursue her relationship with Unglert again.
In the days following, Saeli mentioned that he hoped Whitney Fransway from Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor would walk down the stairs to Paradise. Eventually, he gave up hope and packed his things to head home.
Hours later, Fransway arrived in Mexico, looking forward to meeting Saeli. When her brief castmates told her he had just left, she hopped right back in the van to go chase after him.
Unfortunately, it seems their off-camera romance didn’t pan out.
Why Connor Saeli and Whitney Fransway split
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Saeli said their split was “very mutual” and that they’re “definitely on good terms.”
So what was the problem then? Apparently, hopping into a long-distance relationship right off the bat wasn’t ideal for the pair.
“We left Paradise after spending three days together [and] basically we were immediately thrown into a long distance relationship,” he told the publication. “Whereas the couples that were on the beach for the entire time, got to spend time with each other, get to know each other and actually figure out if they want to be dating or stay together. For us, we spent three days together and then a long-distance relationship … spending that time figuring out if we want to be together. The two months after the show was really our Paradise time of getting to know each other. I think, ultimately, we had a lot of fun with each other, but just weren’t right for each other in a relationship.”
Connor Saeli calls his ‘Bachelorette’ and ‘BIP’ experiences ‘heartbreaking’
Saeli says his Bachelor experience was, overall, sort of disappointing.
“To be honest, the whole Paradise and Bachelorette situation as a whole, to me, was a little heartbreaking,” he said. “Because you go onto The Bachelorette and you’re hopeful that it might work out for you, but you realize that there’s 29 other guys, so the odds are slim. And then going into Paradise, you’re even more hopeful that this is actually going to happen.”
He continued: “For it to not work out with Caelynn and not work out with Whitney — and then to see all your friends like Mike, Tyler, Dylan, Peter, who’s the bachelor now, it’s all going to work out for them, it’s kind of a bummer, going through this whole situation and not having it work out. But I’m definitely hopeful I’ll find my person.”
So Saeli is getting back out there. When the publication asked what kind of woman he’s looking for he said:
“Someone who’s driven, adventurous, outgoing, those are really important to me. Someone that’s independent too and really loves herself. I think it’s really important to love yourself before you can give love to someone else… You can live your own lives and support each other through that, but at the same time, kind of be together. That’s really important to me.”
