‘Bachelor in Paradise’: Dean Unglert Says He’d Be a Horrible ‘Bachelor’

[Spoiler ahead for this season of Bachelor in Paradise]

This season of Bachelor in Paradise is already proving to be one of the most entertaining yet. And fans are hyper-focused on what’s going on with Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes. Unglert has a longstanding reputation as being a heartbreaker, as he’s appeared in Paradise and other shows associated with Bachelor Nation in the past. And while he seems like a genuine guy, he seemingly has trouble committing to one woman — or any woman at all — as he likes his freedom and independence (especially since he’s now living out of a van).

Even though he gets into trouble, there’s no doubt Unglert’s still a fan favorite. Unfortunately, he thinks he’d make an absolutely terrible Bachelor. Here’s what he said.

Dean Unglert recently returned to Paradise for Caelynn Miller-Keyes after breaking her heart

When Unglert appeared in Paradise, he made it known that he wasn’t necessarily looking for love this go-round. Instead, he was looking to hang out with some of his friends and enjoy Mexico — but then, he met Caelynn Miller-Keyes. Despite the warning signs, Miller-Keyes pursued a relationship with Unglert, and the two became quite close. Unfortunately, Unglert decided to leave Paradise on Miller-Keyes’ birthday, leaving her completely heartbroken.

That’s not the end of their saga, however. As we most recently saw on the show, Unglert returned after feeling like he made a massive misstep. “Then I flew back to San Diego, and the entire flight back I literally could not stop thinking about you. I rented a car and drove to the Grand Canyon, and as I was there I thought about how badly I wished that you were there with me,” People reports Unglert told Miller-Keyes. Now, Miller-Keyes has a decision to make regarding if she wants to leave Paradise with Unglert.

He was also involved in a love triangle in the past

This isn’t the first controversial decision Unglert has made while in Paradise. We can’t forget that during Season 4 of the show, he was involved in a love triangle with Kristina Schulman and Danielle Lombard. Unglert and Schulman became involved quickly after meeting in Mexico, and he even visited her in her hometown when filming took a short hiatus. Unfortunately, when Lombard entered the picture, everything got messy. Eventually, both women were annoyed with Unglert for his inability to decide who he wanted to pursue more.

Unglert finally made his choice known during a rose ceremony. He accepted a rose from Lombard, causing Schulman to leave the show on her own volition. Unglert later regretted his decisions, but it was too late.

Unglert believes he’d make a terrible Bachelor

Unglert’s past drama might make him fun to watch for Bachelor audiences, but he personally thinks he’d make a terrible Bachelor. During this interview with Entertainment Tonight prior to Colton Underwood’s season, he expressed how he thought Underwood would make a terrible lead for the show first. “I don’t think he knows exactly what he wants,” Unglert said of Underwood. “I think he’ll do what he thinks people will want him to do and not what’s necessarily right for him.”

We know Underwood did find love in his season after all. But during the interview, Unglert added, “I imagine Colton’s season going the same way mine would where he wants to do right by everyone and he wants no one to hate him.” He went on to say, “Oh my God, I’d be a horrible Bachelor for the same reasons Colton would be horrible and will be horrible. … I just think it’s going to be a dumpster fire.”

It looks like we won’t be seeing Unglert as the next Bachelor anytime soon!
