‘Bachelor in Paradise’: Nicole Lopez-Alvar Says Clay Strung Her & Angela Along
Bachelor in Paradise might be officially closed for the season, but the drama is far from over. In a surprising twist of fate, Nicole Lopez-Alvar is now sticking up for herself and Angela Amezcua after their failed relationships with Clay Harbor. Once thought by some bachelor fans to be one of the strongest couples on the beach this Summer, Lopez-Alvar and Harbor are now going through a fairly messy and public breakup.
A quick relationship recap
Harbor and Lopez-Alvar immediately formed a connection when they arrived on the Bachelor in Paradise beach. But Lopez-Alvar was quick to not limit her options and opted to go on two other dates despite sharing a connection with Harbor. Meanwhile, Harbor was getting called out for dating so soon after breaking up with his ex, Angela Amezcua. Matters got more complicated when Amezcua showed up on the beach on her quest to find love and Lopez-Alvar was quick to make her disdain known.
But, when Amezcua proved that her intentions for being on the beach were pure, Lopez-Alvar and Harbor continued to progress their relationship. The pair agreed to go on a fantasy suite date, but when Harbor admitted he still had doubts and needed space to think, they ultimately spent the night apart.
Unsurprisingly, Harbor wasn’t prepared to get engaged the next day, but he still wanted the chance to get to know Lopez-Alvar outside of Bachelor in Paradise. Lopez-Alvar confessed that she couldn’t be with Harbor knowing he didn’t love her and left crying. Harbor, on the other hand, asked his driver to take him to the nearest pub as he exited the beach.
Bachelor in Paradise finale
Though Lopez-Alvar and Harbor were not shown at the Bachelor in Paradise finale, they were both in attendance. The pair had a conversation about their relationship and why Harbor didn’t feel comfortable getting engaged after only 16 days. But despite their conversation (which did not air), there still seems to be some hurt feelings between the former couple on Lopez-Alvar’s part. She took to her Instagram page to share with her followers that Harbor had led both her and Amezcua on in their relationships.
Nicole Lopez-Alvar says Clay Harbor strung her along
“Ladies, we don’t have to put up with anything less than wonderful. We are worthy of someone’s complete and all-encompassing respect, time, love, honesty, and energy. When a man’s actions don’t line up with his words, when a man’s promises fall flat, and when a man dares to string you along (whether it’s for 16 days or for 8 months) knowing very well he does not see a future with you — we are better off on our own than loving a man who doesn’t know what he has when he has it. I know it’s scary, but sometimes, the bravest thing we can ever do is love ourselves first. If that means to run, then run,” Lopez-Alvar wrote in her post.
Angela Amezcua shows her support
Amezcua was quick to co-sign Lopez-Alvar and left a comment of her own. “Couldn’t have said it better myself girl! It’s about time women stand up for themselves and have a voice! I loved our talk we had, sad it didn’t get shown! PS – I love that you tagged me in the empty seat next to you,” she wrote.
This is a situation where we feel that Harbor and Lopez-Alvar were both valid in their choices. Lopez-Alvar was well within her rights to break up with someone who didn’t love her, despite how short of a time they had been dating. Alternatively, Harbor was right to stick by his beliefs and not rush into an engagement or throw around the L-word for the sake of a TV show. Hopefully, the pair is able to move on and go their separate ways peacefully.
