‘Bachelor in Paradise’: The Biggest Clue That Mike Johnson Won’t Be the Bachelor
We are in the final week of Bachelor in Paradise. Some couples have strengthened their bonds, while others have fallen by the wayside. And that’s all well and good and everything, but what we are really interested in is who will be the next Bachelor! Who will be dominating our television screens and hearts for weeks on end?
Mike Johnson as the Bachelor
There were a few standout stars on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette who made great candidates for the role of Bachelor.
The first person most people thought of for the job was Brown’s runner-up, Tyler Cameron. But soon after leaving the show, Cameron started dating supermodel Gigi Hadid, which means that he probably won’t be available to date thirty women in a few months.
Peter Weber is also in the running to be the Bachelor as he made it to the final three of Brown’s season and was pretty well-liked by Bachelor Nation.
Though Mike Johnson didn’t make it to the finale, his electric smile and kind personality attracted audiences early on and were enough to make him be considered for the lead role.
“Of course he’s a contender [for Bachelor],” Chris Harrison told People before Bachelor in Paradise began airing. “How could he not be a contender with that smile? He’s one of my favorite people we’ve ever had on the show. He’s a love of a man. I don’t know him that well, and I consider him a really good friend.”
“He’s just a sweet guy,” he continued. “He gives the best hugs, the best smiles, and the best advice. He’s just a really good man and yeah, of course, he’s a contender.”
The biggest clue that Johnson won’t be the Bachelor
Though it seemed like Johnson had a pretty good shot at being the Bachelor towards the end of Brown’s season, talk of Johnson in the role has kind of petered out.
If Johnson were seriously up for the job, he would have been given a lot more airtime on Bachelor in Paradise. Instead, we barely saw him and his quest for love wasn’t given its own storyline.
If that wasn’t a big enough hint that Johnson was out of the running, him dating singer Demi Lovato certainly is.
“Demi Lovato and Mike Johnson from The Bachelorette were definitely on what looked like not a first date at LaScala in Beverly Hills on Friday, September 13. They looked happy,” an insider told Hollywood Life. “They were there about an hour and a half or two hours and sat by themselves.”
The two first became acquainted after Johnson caught Lovato’s eye while on The Bachelorette.
“Mike, I accept your rose,” Lovato wrote on her Instagram story when Johnson was dumped on the show.
Since then, the two have been flirting over social media, but recently decided to take their relationship to the real world.
“Mike clearly wanted to make sure he got to see Demi again as he kept asking what her travel schedule was like coming up [on the date],” the insider said. “They’ve been out a few times only and it seems to be very, very early on, but it seems that they really are trying to date!”
