‘Bachelor in Paradise’: What Really Caused John Paul Jones and Tayshia Adams’ Breakup?
Let’s face it, Bachelor in Paradise couples aren’t exactly built to last. The show only films for a little over two weeks, so the relationships formed there barely have any time to solidify before the contestants get engaged.
Even though fans are completely aware of the speedy nature of the show, they still invest in each couple and root for them to stay together.
John Paul Jones and Tayshia Adams were one of the most unexpected couples to come out of Paradise. They were just so strange together that it kind of worked. But unfortunately, the two recently called it quits.
John Paul Jones and Tayshia Adams’ relationship
From the moment Jones got onto the beach, he knew he wanted to be with Adams. She, on the other hand, was not really interested in Jones. Adams first dated Blake Horstmann, but after it was revealed that he had been hooking up with multiple Bachelor women, she completely left that relationship in the past.
Jones then found a way to ease into Adams’ good graces by reciting poetry to her. Adams found herself drawn to Jones but was still unable to fully commit. She, then, started exploring a relationship with Derek Peth, which caused Jones to attack Peth and started one of the biggest showdowns in BIP history.
Eventually, Adams ended things with both Peth and Jones. Later, she realized that she actually did want to be with Jones and flew to his hometown to get him back.
John Paul Jones and Tayshia Adams break up
After fans noticed that Adams and Jones hadn’t been posting each other on social media in a while, they started asking the couple if they were still together. Adams recently took to Instagram to explain the situation.
“I know you guys have been asking about John and I recently, and as much as I like to keep my personal life private, I realize you have all watched and been a part of our journey from the beginning,” she said. “Therefore to stay true to that, I need to be open and honest with you in order to heal and move on.”
“John and I had something incredibly special,” she continued. “We fell for each other in Paradise, and everything was a whirlwind after that. When the show ended, I truly went back to Maryland to see if what we had was something we could build on without cameras, a production crew, and without feeling any pressure: to simply figure things out on our own terms.”
Why did Tayshia Adams and John Paul Jones break up?
In the end, Adams said it was the distance that got in the way.
“But the reality was, we were living on opposite coasts, and working insane schedules that made it impossible to see each other and build a life with each other,” she said.
While Adams may be publicly accrediting the split to distance, sources say otherwise.
“They definitely really liked each other but Tayshia is older than JPJ and in the long term needs somebody a little more mature,” a source told E! News. “She is just more realistic about it and they still had a lot of getting to know each other to do after the show.”
“They weren’t ever going to move in together,” the source continued. “It was just a fun fling and ran its course and didn’t end up working out.”
